        So with Strasburg getting close to his innings limit, I have to wonder, why did they have him pitching from day 1? Why not start his spring training later than everyone else and then bring him out in mid-May or so. I just can't fathom a team shutting down their stud going into the playoffs. I understand the injury issue, but you don't get opportunities like this often.

          The Braves did that with Medlen this year. They put him in the bullpen and used him, but didn't have him throw much on back to back days. Then they finally moved him to starter and he is dominating.

            Honestly, I just want to know why it's an innings limit and not a pitch number limit. Let's be honest: there's a difference between 2200 pitches and 3000 pitches.

            I think he's thrown a little more than 2500, which puts him over the desired 15 pit/inn limit. I would have stopped him at 2400 in that case.
