    Re: A-Rod to BOSTON!!!!

you get the best player in the AL..who WANTS to play in boston.

as for nomar...that wrist injury is alive & well

head over to Sons of SAM Horn web site for a statistical breakdown of nomar over the last 5 years..amazing

BTW...a poster over at SoSH says WEEI (boston radio) took a call from someone saying the deal is pretty much done:

    AROD to BOS
    MANNY to TEX
    NOMAR to ANA
    kennedy +3 prospects to BOS

hard to believe at this point
Bummed that you're not on my ignore list yet?.....Don't worry, I'm sure you will be very soon.

All you people saying this is bad for Boston in the long run. Isn't it pretty obvious Theo isn't assembling a team for the long run? He wants to get us a championship now. It doesn't matter if we miss the playoffs the 3 or 4 or 5 years after it. If we won the Series nothing else would matter. We wouldn't be paying for nearly 40 year old pitchers if we were playing for the long run right now.

            Agreed.

He wants to get the 1918 crap out of the way so they can have a fresh start, and Yanks fans all over the world will be stuck saying: ".....2004?" If you were Theo and all you heard about your team was "1918" it would make you want to erase all that crap from the table completely, would it not? Boston, and their fans, and apparently now even Theo Epstein, is absolutely tired of that crap. Should this all pay off, should they finally win, it would end up being the fault of all the hatred towards the Sox that eventually created it. That would be the ultimate revenge to the Yankees, and all other Sox haters of the world.

Then they could start anew with Arod (should they get him) carrying the team through what would possibly be some rough years ahead. However, the lure of the Series might bring Arod to Boston after all, even if it would be for possibly only one little ring. I guess we'll see, cause with Epstein pulling out all the stops, it would appear that they've finally started to get serious about winning a series, and getting it out of the way.

Epstein is most definately not about the win-now, he is about developing talent, and spending draft picks for the right cost. Of course being in Boston there is a window of opportunity, but when your spending $100 million there SHOULD always be a window of opportunity (read: Mets). But he isnt giving up his best prospects...Suppan for Freddy Sanchez aside he has proved to be great with the young guys and getting talent in return.

I say Texas keeps A-Rod... they were dumb enough to offer that money, A-rod was dumb enough to accept with no foreseeable future of competing, I say he made his bed, let him lie in it. What bothers me the most is he totally screwed Texas out of having the money to pick up what they REALLY needed (pitching) and now he's STILL got a way out. If I was Texas I'd be like, "Hey Alex, you signed the deal, you're *** ain't going nowhere." That'll be an example for the next money-hungry player out there.
