I hope someday we have a 3 game series instead of this play in ****.

Best-of-3 will never happen because:

1. The winning WC team would be able to use their #1 starter in both Game #1 of the WC series and Game #1 of the LDS on normal rest.

2. The #1 seed would have to wait a full week after the end of the regular season before their LDS started. Teams don't like those many consecutive off-days.

This format is here to stay. The 2-3 LDS format goes back to 2-2-1 in 2013, thankfully.

Honestly, if it's here to stay....I'm going to have to at least slightly reconsider my commitment to Major League Baseball.

Between this and the refusal to administer comprehensive replay to interleague play to so much else over the years with the league and with the Braves, it's starting to really bear down on me.

Despite everyone saying "yeah right", I'm working on breaking myself off completely from the NBA and baseball would be infinitely harder for me, but there is a tipping point that ends up getting reached. At some point. I don't think that point is very close at all, but it's starting to show up a bit like mileage signs to a city on the highway.

I'll be back next year, obviously, but this is a big enough problem that it starts to add doubt on my long-term future.

At least there's no labor trouble.

I agree.
I hope the MLB sees that a one game playoff, in cases other than a tie, just doesn't really add up after you have teams play a 162 game season.

Well, the Rangers and Orioles finished the season with the same record so this is technically a tie-breaker anyway.
