Congratulations Molitor. It's always good to see a Brewers player make it.

9 gold gloves is great and only one MVP in 1984, no World Series and only two trips to the post season. How about a .285 hitter with only 282 HR's and just over 1,000 RBI, hardly dominant in my book. Infact it looks an awful lot like the career of Steve Garvey, and he'll never see the Hall Of Fame. Sorry Cub fan, Sandberg was nothing special.

With Eck getting in, I hope this opens the door for the likes of Sutter and Gossage, and in the future maybe guys like Rivera and Hoffman will get the nod as well.

A lot of the players from the late 70s and 1980s are overlooked. Ryno deserves to go, eventually, but his career lacked the longevity that Molitor and Eck had, and that's why they will go in first.

It's a shame Bert Blyleven isn't given more respect.

I couldn't agree more with what you have said. Bert Blyleven is easily overlooked every year, although his stats stand out big time compared to other pitchers of his era. 5th all-time in strikeouts, 9th in shutouts, and 25th all-time in wins (13 away from 300). He only had two All-Star appearances, but he won 2 World Series rings, winning Game 7's in both the 1979 and 1987 Twins. He also had one of the best curveballs in baseball, and although I never really watched him play in his prime, reading articles and watching classic games featuring him have made me a fan of his. Blyleven deserves to be in the Hall, and hopefully will be inducted within the next few years.

boy, someone's bitter about Sandberg not getting in.. one day he will, but to say that NEITHER didn't dominate the way Sandberg did??? ugh... Sure Molitor didn't put up power #'s, but can you argue over 3,000 hits, a couple of WS titles, and a batting average over .300??? & Eck - 24 years -won close to 200 games as a stater BEFORE turning to a closer.. I also think those voting on the HOF are too strict - seems as only one or two get in each year..

Let's put this to bed Sandberg will most likely get in next year as the list of new guys eligible for the HOF is very weak. The only guy that's a sure-fire HOF'er out of the new guys next year is Wade Boggs.
