While I think Miami is a more appropriate name, I think it sounds horrible. On the other hand, Florida Marlins has a nice ring to it. But if changing the name means keeping the team, then im all for it.

Pudge did have a point though. He won the World Series MVP and was the leader of the team on the field and in the clubhouse... and he asked for exactly the same salary he made last year. The Marlins wanted him to take a pay cut.
How is that fair?Comment

Re: Maddux, I-Rod reportedly want to go to the Cubs
They overpayed him last year and he wouldve got 8 mil a year instead of 1o mil, wut a big "paycut." Like I said earlier, he has a gold plated statue of himself outside of his house. If he wants an extra 2 mil a year over team loyalty, then he can have that. Our team doesnt need players like that.Comment

Yeah, you mentioned that.
The fact remains that
(1) He led the team to a world title.
(2) They wanted him to take a pay cut to stay.
You can rationalize it any way want, but those are the facts.Comment

For all those that say Maddux is washed up:
Player A's 2003 stats: 17-9, 3.91 ERA, 211 innings pitched.
Player B's 2003 stats: 16-11, 3.96 ERA, 218 innings pitched.
Player A is Roger Clemens. Player B is Greg Maddux. Pretty similar, huh? Yet somehow Clemens is characterized as a workhorse starter who could pitch forever, while Maddux is a wimp who can't get through 5 innings.
That's all I have to say.

Yah I agree it's funny how the perception of the two was different, considering Maddux's start last year he ended up doing pretty well.Comment
