I know Houston fans are very excited about their rotation, and they should be, but I think I'd take the Cubs rotation over their's. Oswalt is a great pitcher, but I'd take Prior over him. Clemens and Pettite are both solid number 2 guys, but I like Wood's potential for next season and beyond more than either of them. Wade Miller has been inconsistent and if Zambrano pitches as well as he did last year he's the better man. Clement and Cruz are both solid and could be better than advertised. With Clemens and Pettite you are either going to get last year's numbers or something worse. I suppose its possible Clemens could surprise us all like he did with Toronto and with the Yankees in '01 and throw a great season but my money is against it. If we were talking Playoffs here, I might be tempted to go with Houston's rotation, but I'll go with the Cubs here.

Zambrano will be much better this year IMO. Who knows we still may end up with Maddux. I like the Cubs chances this year of course, but then again, they are the Cubs.

oswalt is the key.last season he missed a chunk of games cause of the injured grin.if he's healthy i'd give a very slight edge to the stros cause they got veteran experience in the rotation.

I'm one of those people that say Kerry Wood is gonna be great next season i've been saying it every year since he came back from his elbow injury, but he still hasnt proved to be a consistent starter and Matt Clement has been the same way. Prior on the other hand is a great pitcher, he was the best in the NL last year and Zambrano could be a great pitcher...But right now i would still take Houston, they have 3 pitchers that have won 20 games and there proven consistent pitchers. If you look at pitchers that come from the AL to the NL they usually do pretty well and i think Clemens and Pettite will both be up around 20 game winners next season, Not to mention Oswalt. Bottom line they both have great pitching staffs and it will fun watching them go at it next season.

                            That's probably a little optimistic.

I'm sure the Astros would be thrilled to get 30 total wins out of those two.

I think the big difference is that all of the Cubs pitchers will still be just as good (or better) in five years.
