The Astros no longer have Blum or Hunter,
Blum is now with Tampa Bay and Hunter is with San Diego.

At the time I was talking about last season. I know they don't have them anymore. That just means more trouble for Houston.

I think their both great rotations. But the Astros rotation looks a litte better on paper. But right now we have no idea how Clemens and Petite will fare in the NL. The Astros rotation has more experience and seems to have a few more proven pitchers. The Cubs rotation if full of strikeout artists and hard throwers. For me I would have to pick the staff that has more experience, which is the Astros.

Either way it will be interesting. Some of you have made the observation that Chicago had weak offense last year but when the Cubs acquired Ramirez and Lofton the offense started doing more. Im hoping that Moises will have a better year and that Ramirez has a good year. Anyway, I think the edge for the starting five still goes to the Cubs. Im hoping Clement will be consistent in a good way this year. I really hope the Cubs get Irod.

In any case Im just glad that the balance of power is shifting from the Yankees.

                        Stoud,

Excellent points about Lee and especially Walker. I love this addition. He can play 4 different postions, but more importantly he plays well in big games and does not strike out alot. Unlike Patterson, Sosa, Gonzalez.

However, I have to disagree with you that the rotation is not a playoff rotation. I'll take Wood and Prior's numbers from last year anytime. I think that the innings pitched over the course of the year caught up with them in games 6 and 7. They basically had no one to turn it over to out of the bullpen. With a better bullpen this year they will be able to conserve some energy and save it for the playoffs if they make it. Throw in the experience the whole team got from last year and I think they are more than ready for this year.

Yeah, I don't think ARIZONA realized how much they might miss Damian Miller, he had great relationships with his pitchers---that being said the Cubs might miss him, too, unless they get pudge, which would be awesome but unlikely.

The real issue for the CUBS/ASTROS debate, IMO, is the ballpark. Wrigley is a hitters park, but MINUTE MAID is ridiculous. The T-Ball length foul lines will haunt the staff in general. Miller does OK, but Oswalt will miss the start of the season, and may not be healthy. ROCKET will get ROCKED. I'll take the Cubs for that reason alone.
