If I was in the pros, I wouldn't demand much at all. Actually... I would get whatever I need for the bare minimum of a "rich" person, and demand about 500k a year... I would be one generous dude.

Albert Pujols is one of the best players in all of Baseball, but he has not won squat!!,
the economy of Baseball is changing, trying to get out from under the disaster offseasons between 1998-2000, when teams were just throwing $100 Million dollar contracts around like it was no big deal, the $55 Million they offer him today could be $40 million tomorrow, and thats not just the Cardinals, that could be a lot of teams,
look around, Greg Maddux has one at least 16 games for 15 consecutive seasons, and does not have a contract, Ivan Rodriguez, the best Catcher in the game, won a world series ring last year, does not have a contract, why?, money, there asking prices are too high, five years ago they could both have easily got, $70, $80, $90 Million from some teams,
things are changing, Pujols may someday be the best player in the game,
but even Barry Bonds found out that even a 73 HR season does not guarntee more money than your worth.

I think Pujols is just being a normal average major league player. He wants to sign a big contract. Hopefully the Cardinals won't sign him to a huge A-Rod or Manny type deal.

Pujols is worth about the same as Guerreo. 5 over 70-80. Possibly more. He is actually worth the Ramirez type contract.
