What happened to all the bad contracts they took off the books this year? Burnitz, Alomar, Benitez and even Ordonez contract was half ours. What did Freddie Skill Sets do with the cash. This is New York. We are not supposed to have a budget on our payroll. Is he saving the money to buy his son Jeff his own team to screw up? What happened to playing the young guys in the minors. Instead he re-signs assistant GM John Franco, Joe McEwing and brings back Todd Zeile. He even wanted Rick Reed! Who's next? Robin Ventura to platoon with Ty wigginton at 3rd base? Enough is enough. The worst move the Mets ever made was the one where Doubleday was forced to sell out to Wilpon. Duquette might be a good GM but will never find out as long as Franco, Leiter and Piazza are calling the shots.

Freddie Dubs shot his wad buying the team, now he's cutting corners wherever he can. He's been a notorious tightwad the whole time he's been involved with the Mets and cares not about victories, just his bottom line. As a lifelong Mets fan I'm saddened to see them going this route. I don't care if they suck, but at least suck with your young guys. Don't bring back a bunch of Fossils and then go out and get this shortstop Kenny Blankenship or whatever his name is, in a move that had nothing to do with baseball, and everything to do with filling Shea with Japanese-Americans willing to throw away their hard earned dollars to see a sup-par team. (Nothing against my Japanese brothers and sisters, just pointing out that that was a business move aimed at generating revenue) As for myself, I will make my yearly opening day trip, that is if I can get tickets seeing as the Mets hijack half of the opening day tickets to create a false sellout and force their fans into buying 7-game ripoff tickets plans, and after that I will be putting the Mets back on the shelf. I'll probably catch a couple of games at Pro-Player, and maybe that new Phillies park, whatever the hell it's called, I think Papa John's Pizza Stadium or something. Maybe one day when the Mets remember who they are, I'll go back.

I understand that the Mets have made some dumb moves in the past but as a fan, I'm glad that they're not free-spending like they did. Whether you agree with the Vlad decision or not, the moves the Mets made this offseason has improved the team. As far as "Bad Contracts", I'm sure the deal to rid themselves of Bonilla's contract which will cost them years (I think its ten or more)in payments, doesn't sit well in Wilpon's stomach.Comment
