Don't bring back a bunch of Fossils and then go out and get this shortstop Kenny Blankenship or whatever his name is, in a move that had nothing to do with baseball, and everything to do with filling Shea with Japanese-Americans willing to throw away their hard earned dollars to see a sup-par team. (Nothing against my Japanese brothers and sisters, just pointing out that that was a business move aimed at generating revenue) As for myself,

Blankenship was imported from MXC? AWESOME! What about his sidekick? Vic Ramano? I think that's his name. He can man 2B.

Does anyone remember the "great pitching trio" the Mets brought up in '95-96, Jason Isringhausen, Bill Pulsipher and Paul Wilson, and how they were can't miss prospects, as we all know, they missed, big time!, it took Isringhausen being traded and moved to the Closer role for him to be any good, Wilson has become, at least, a decent bottem of the rotation pitcher, and Pulsipher was a total bust,

That's because all three of them suffered MAJOR INJURY problems. Isringhausen can't start anymore, that's WHY he's a closer now, he doesn't have the arm strength to pitch 7 innings.

Wilson had 2 or 3 major arm surgeries. He didn't pitch for 2 straight years I think.

I don't remember Pulsipher too well.

What did they get in return for Isringhausen? Billy Taylor? One of the worst trades in recent Mets history.

This Blankenship guy is the only curious signing this year, I usually love Japanese players. I still think it was a PR move though. They've had a hard-on to always have a Japanese player on the team no matter how lousy since Kashiwada. Anyone remember the Japanese Greg Maddux, or was it the Japanese Rick Reed, actually I think he was the Japanese Doug Sisk.
