The crowd made that a thoroughly enjoyable game to watch. Awesome to see playoff baseball back in Pittsburgh and getting kicked off right.

@DallasLatos: @Mrs_McCarthy32 no like a lady came & grabbed me by the hair & punched me in the head repeatedly.
Steelers fans wearing Pirates garb? Hell no. They can go screw themselves. I won't root for them. Honestly the only team left in the playoffs that I will root for are the Rays or maybe the Tigers. I hate every team left in the NL, don't like the Red Sox, and have hated Oakland since 1990. Anyway, stay classy Pittsburgh!

Since Dusty gave Russ Ortiz the game ball with a 5-0 lead in the 7th inning of Game 6 of the '02 World Series, Baker-managed teams are now 1-10 in games in which they can win a playoff round. Ouch.

Can someone explain this Dusty quote to me in response to asking why they didn't play with more urgency:

"No you don't play with a sense of urgency, there's never a sense of urgency unless it's the last game of the season and you're down to your last couple outs"

Uhh...did he not get the memo?

That is why the Reds fail. And that is why they ended the season losing six straight. Dusty isn't out there hitting and pitching but his team took on the no urgency attitude and now their season is over.

                        Wha? That's horrible if true.

Aside from that, the game was amazing last night. The crowd was really into it, even getting to Cueto a bit. Byrd came up big, and Russ scorched that last HR. It made my day to see Cutch dancing around the outfield like a kid on Christmas.

On to STL, in what should be an amazing series. I wish they'd bring the duck close to RF during games

Another ****ty ending to another good season. It's getting pretty frustrated seeing how inept this team can be when we know how good they can be when they're on their game. Argh!

Pirates earned it, so hats off to them. PIT/STL is gonna be a great series. Love all the matchups and potential matchups in the NL this year.
