Dammmit, i'd like to see you guys figure out the W-L for all 30 teams and not mess up once.

If I knew I was going to get graded on math I would have quadruple checked it.

Giles was injured for a bit last year, Nevin had 2 freak accidents, Klesko is back to normal, and Payton did just as good on the road last year.

Okay, so you want me to say they're not that good, they're not good enough for a record over .500. Why don't we go and have a closer look. 2001, the year the Padres were close to a .500 record (79-83), they had a mediocre rotation with some punch in their offense, they didn't have much injuries either to key players. 2004, their pitching staff is better than the one offered in 2001 (Wells, Lawrence, Eaton, Peavy, Hitchcock (Post-98, "Journeyman") vs Hitchcock (Pre-Yankee, Post-98), Williams (pre-dominant form) Jones, Jarvis, Eaton (before Tommy-John Surgery). Not to mention the offense is much more dangerous (it's no Yankees murderer's row of Lofton, Jeter, Giambi, Rodriguez, Posada, Matsui, too many to name), it might be the best offense in the NL West aside from the Rockies 81 games of maybe-inflated-numbers. You tell me, is a lineup of Burroughs, Loretta, Giles, Nevin, and Klesko to name a few not better than a lineup of Henderson, Nevin, Klesko, Trammell (Career Year), and Jackson?

Not to mention that there's actually a CF who can hit .281 with 20 homers (he hit 28 total, take the 13 from Coors, divide that by half and take some away if you'd wish, add that to the 15 he hit away, he's a potential 20 home-run hitter), not taking anything away from Kotsay, who could probably do the same later on in his career.

I'm going to stop babbling and let the season speak itself, if the Padres are better than .500, then you've got nothing on me, if not, then I'll be the one not saying anything.

Point exactly, it's impossible to gauge if there's going to be an injury in the season (unless you're names Nevin or Griffey). Barring any injury to Nevin, Klesko, and Giles the staff should have comfortable leads to work with. And people aren't giving Payton his credit because they believe it was all Coors Field. If I remember, 81 games are played away from Coors field, and those 81 games away from Coors he posted good numbers. Get back to me when they play 162 games in Coors Field, 162 season games that is, then I'll start taking people's comments of "oh it was Coor's Field that he hit .302 with 28 homers". Career year? Yes, does that mean he's a Trammell with the bat, or a Kotsay? No.
