Look at Lasorda's managerial stats, I notice he has two ties? Anyone know how that could happen?

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Curfew? I’m not sure how those worked back in the day, or if they just continued the next day.

Or maybe both teams had to forfeit?

If a game made it past 5 innings and got called off due to rain while it was tied, it used to end in a tie before they started suspending and restarting games

back in '83 the Dodgers and Padres had a 14 inning rain ending 4-4 tie.
in '88 rain caused a Dodgers and Cubs 2-2 tie.

On this day 45 years ago, the San Francisco Giants were officially sold to a group in Toronto and were preparing to relocate.

Also on this day 45 years ago, new San Francisco mayor George Moscone stepped in and made sure it didn't go through.

I wonder how different history would be with the Toronto Giants. Toronto and Montreal would be NL East rivals, the still fairly new Oakland As likely become the destination for all the SF fans.

And how would Toronto baseball history have changed. Probably for the worse since the Jays from 83-93 were among the best in baseball, obviously capped by 2 WS titles. Giants made 1 WS, a few playoff appearances and that's it.

Obviously I'd take the SF history in the 00s and 10s over the Jays, but outside of that, I'd take Jays in the 70s,80s,90s over the Giants.

Yes, I know Toronto taking over the Giants doesn't mean every part of SFs future would've happened in Toronto, but I'm just saying that it up working out better for the Jays starting from scratch.

Giants were also going to maybe move to Tampa Bay circa 2000.

More like 1992. Before Tampa got the Rays.

And even then, that was after this fell through.

Before the Rays, Tampa was also in discussion for the Pirates, Twins, Athletics, White Sox, Rangers, Panthers & Whitecaps (both would've been NL expansions), and Mariners. All of that in the 80s.

So will we be looking back 20 years from now at the rumored Oakland As moves in the 10s and 20s in the same way we saw Toronto Giants, SJ Giants, TB Giants lol.

I could see the A's moving to San Jose.

(I say, as everytime something happens there somebody says "I could see that".)

I knew I should have looked it up first.

I guess I was thinking that because 2000 was when the Giants actually ended up moving, and that's when I was old enough to start hearing the talks about Tampa (not that they were still in talks then, but that's when I was even made aware).

I vividly remember talks of the Twins moving to NC, maybe Raleigh or Greensboro in the early 2000s.

You know how when you are waiting for someone who is still inside with the car running, you wonder how much longer they are going to be, so you keep waiting and waiting before you turn the car off? Then just after you shut it off, the person you were waiting on is finished and comes out to the car?

That's what I'm hoping for with this post.

Still no MiLB schedule as of today. Latest I heard is hopefully by the end of the month. Again. Oh, and the Rangers still haven't moved out of Nashville yet. Maybe by next week.
