    Re: MLB Off-Topic

Hopefully this is a turning point for the Mariners.

They are total losers. One of the worst organizations in all of sports. The only time they have won anything was with a legendary baseball man at the helm (Pat Gillick) and when the team had 4 HOFrs on the roster (Jr, A-Rod, Edgar, Randy Johnson).. even at that; 4 Playoff trips, 3 ALCSs.... in 44 years.

    They are the Cincinnati Bengals.

They can't go on the way they are. I think that is the hard part for this community. There was finally some hope on the horizon. DiPoto has gone about this rebuild the right way. The farm is loaded. Possibly moreso than any point in team history....

.. and then, same old Mariners.

There isn't a forum where a team President can say those things. Not even bamboozled, sitting on a bar stool.

The interpreter thing was ugly enough, in a sport as diverse as baseball. This guy took shots at TONS of players. Good players, not so good players, overpaid players, young players, young up and coming stars.

DiPoto was giving a presser on my drive in to work, and he rattled off a dozen players he had to contact, to do damage control with.

And its hard to explain just how poorly the Mariners are viewed in Seattle right now, after decades of losing.

      The Seahawks are winners
      The Sounders are winners
The WNBA team is a dynasty

There is more buzz for hockey coming to town, even the NBA potentially returning, than there is for a good young Ms team that may turn the corner the next couple years.

The Marlins are half as old, and generally viewed as a poorly run organization... they've been to 2 World Series.. they've won them both.

This moron even took shots at the Seahawks Championship parade. The man has no right talking about Championships at all.

Good riddance. He got exactly what he deserved.

I can still remember the outrage when the Mets traded Kazmir for Victor Zambrano in 2004 because Rick Peterson claimed he could fix him in ten minutes

Hasn't pitched in the bigs since 2016 with LAD. This will be his 2nd major comeback attempt. After some solid years with Tampa in the late 00's, he was solid again from like 2014-16 with Oakland and the Dodgers. Definitely did not think he would be coming back though

Maybe the Mets just got excited when the fax said they were getting that pitcher out of the Dominican named Bartolo, but didnt realize it ran out of ink and it was really Bartolome.

The Mariners need to give Theo Epstien a call, offer him a stake in ownership, and the role of president and CEO. The guy ended 2 of the most prolific curses in sports. He'd be a hell of a hire.

Jays unveil their new training complex. Their previous one had been their ORIGINAL complex since they first got a team! Obviously there were upgrades, but they finally have a brand new one.

Looks like somewhere a baseball fan would want to live.

Between this and their newly renovated ST stadium, Jays have put lots of money into their facilities which is great to see. Their ST stadium which will be their 2021 home I dont even think has been shown off on TV yet because they didnt yet get to have a home game on TV when ST got cancelled.

Interesting and controversial thing the Jays are doing this year. All radio broadcasts will be done using the TV audio feed.

This is either a really good or bad idea.

We know radio broadcasters go into more detail when calling games since people watching obviously can't see the action. So will the audio feed be worse for them to listen to, or will the TV feed feel worse for viewers since the commentators will be talking way more? I feel it's probably the former.

Radio broadcasts seem to be declining. I dont imagine the number of people they get tuning in makes it worth it anymore to have separate broadcasts. If they lose some fans on the radio side, not as huge a deal to them most likely. Not like fans cant listen to games anymore, they just have the TV feed instead.

Everyone's different, but the only times I've ever listened to radio broadcasts are if I'm going somewhere when the games on, and it'll only be on for the duration of the drive. Could be 10 minutes, could be 40 minutes. Listening to the TV audio feed won't impact anything for me really.

I don’t think it will be a big deal, I could listen to a radio feed of the Mets tv broadcast and have no issue with it although we’re pretty spoiled with how good our broadcast team is. It would be a bigger deal if it were reversed and the radio broadcast audio was being played on tv. Things would be out of sync because the radio guys aren’t paying attention to what the cameras are looking at

Yeah, it's definitely a different skillset. I grew up in a weird spot between two towns, so I never had cable (ie, TSN) until 1994. I listened to a lot more games (Canucks, Blue Jays, Expos, Mariners, Sonics, Seahawks, occasionally Canadiens in French, haha) in the mid-80s thru early-90s era than I watched.
