It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Speedy, it's the only movie I've ever seen that's truly appreciated the intricacies... of the water balloon.

There is still concern for this upcoming year either way:

            Thought this was fantastic.

The new Mets owner, Steve Cohen, apparently owns the Bill Buckner ball. And he'll be donating it to the Mets museum.

It’s funny how we can call it that ball when he’s literally the only person involved in the play who never touched it, heh.

EDIT: Oh hey, happy 40,000th post to me lol.

Not the news I was expecting to wake up to!

Rogers Communications and Brookfield Asset Management want to tear down the Rogers Centre and build a new ballpark for the Blue Jays in its place.

A plan is reportedly in the work to tear down the Rogers Centre and build a new ballpark for the Blue Jays in its place.

Rogers Communications and Brookfield Asset Management want to demolish the stadium and transform that huge parcel of land as part of a whole downtown redevelopment.

Sources tell the Globe and Mail, a new natural grass baseball-focused stadium would take up the southern end of the current property, with residential towers, office buildings, stores and public space planned for the northern portion.

While the ultimate goal is to keep the stadium downtown, Rogers is also reportedly looking at some waterfront options as well.

This multi-billion dollar plan would be privately funded though Rogers and Brookfield are working with all three levels of government on this project.

According to the Globe and Mail, government officials and the two companies intend to go public with their plans in the new year.
Rogers has yet to confirm these reports.

Rogers Centre for sure needs to be replaced. New stadium still needs a retractable roof, but I hope they follow the modern designs, and build the stadium more like all other ballparks and not like how Rogers Centre was built like a bowl. Most of those OF seats suck. Theres a reason most ballparks have most of their seats between 1B and 3B. Build up, not out.

And of course, natural grass will be another big part of this. Jays tried getting natural grass inside Rogers Centre but it didnt work out. At least they got real dirt in the IF.

It would probably have them relocate for a season or two. At least they know Buffalo is an option, maybe even Montreal.

Rogers Centre has two really cool things going for it: view of the CN Tower and the hotel integrated into the park.

If they can still feature the next ballpark similarly, that would be awesome.

Same location is best case scenario. Theres another area further east, which would be harder to get to, especially for those taking public transportation (Rogers Centre is a 10 min walk from the subway/train station).

The hotel is ok, but seems like if they build a new stadium, they're making the south side be the stadium and north side would be buildings (aka what 90% of downtown has become, giant condos and some have stores on the bottom floor).

The north side is currently where the hotel is. So I'd imagine it would be separate from the stadium itself (at most, just a pathway which connects the hotel to one of the entrances to the stadium, similar to the pathway around the Raptors/Leafs arena).

The stadium as well would probably be smaller. No need for some 50,000 seat venue. It's nice when its 100% sold out, but realistically, 40000 is probably a better number (which is around the number that Marlins,Rangers,Brewers,Astros all have in their retractable roof stadiums).

And with a new roof and drastically different downtown skyline vs 30 years ago, they could definitely revolve the sightlines around that. I'd make it so that when the roof is open, the CN Tower is part of that OF skyline. The way the current stadium is build, when the roof opens, the roof blocks the entire OF. It would be better the other way around where the roof goes to the home plate side and leaves the OF open so players and fans have that nice view of downtown. IMO, that east facing view from the CN Tower all the way down to Jurassic Park, at night time it's the best view of downtown.

I wasn't getting the impression that the new stadium would be a dome. Am I wrong? I'm old enough to remember watching games at Exhibition Stadium. The weather was frightful. Don't want to go through that again.

they don't need to completely do away with Rogers Centre: they should relocate it to either Tampa or Oakland. this would be better than that time France sent Lady Liberty to America

I think a retractable roof would be a given.

"Hey Tampa, we want Blake Snell"

                          "What's your offer?"

                          "How's a $600m building sound?"

                          "Deal!"

We've heard of guys dealt for PTBNL, and jokes about being dealt for a bunch of baseballs, but imagine being traded for a building.

They've been the Jays high A affiliate ever since 1990.

I'm figuring, eventually, (3-5 years) it will be AAA, AA & only one level of Single A. I also expect rookie league teams will consist of multiple teams players. also also, I expect minor league crowd promotions will also take it up a notch for survival. most really are on top of their game. I just figure now they'll shift into maximum overdrive

I'd get rid of some levels of the minor leagues but allow bigger rosters for the main levels.
