I'm not sold on the Spiders name (not that I need to be) but I see how it could become a thing. With a slight change in color scheme (and even with no color change) it could become the unofficial Spider-Man team. Could see fans going crazy with the Spidy apparel and take a life of its own. That on the pro side, but still, spiders? Who cares if some Cleveland team was called Spiders in the 19th century. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re: MLB Off-Topic
As a life long Indians fan, I think this is just setting the stage to move the team. Indians fans in northeast OH are passionate about the team name and the team itself.....there just aren't enough of them
I lived through the run in the 90s and nothing like that will ever happen again with Cleveland baseball. Cleveland is, and always will be a football town. Once the Browns came back the Indians took a backseat. In my opinion the teams they've had the last five years or so have been better than those 90s teams in terms of being a complete team. The pitching has just been on another level compared to the 90s.
That said, fan attendance has been average at best. Many fans, myself included, do not like the Dolans and would like to see them go all in for a couple years instead of nickel and diming the franchise. When they signed Edwin Encarnacion a few years ago I thought it was a sign they'd do that, but they reversed course quickly.
The lease at Jacobs Field (it will always be The Jake to me) expires in 2023. I won't be surprised if they move the team after that.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I really doubt they'll ever move the team. Definitely not as long as the As and Rays are here.
Lease might be up soon, but it's not an extremely old stadium, and it looks nice too. Opened in 1994, theres many other ballparks still around which are older.
Speaking of changes in the AL Central, the Tigers look like they're changing their logo. They've sent out a survey to some fans asking their opinion. I never get why more teams in all sports dont send out surveys like this to all SSH.
I'd go with the old one in the top right, and the new one middle left as an alternate. Keep the same D logo for their hats though.
I've never been a fan of a letter as a teams primary logo (looking at you Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Colorado, San Diego). Detroits is better than all those teams letter logo, but it's better for a hat logo than a primary team logo.Last edited by Majingir; 12-14-2020, 06:34 PM.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I always hate when teams make subtle logo/uniform changes like those potential Tigers changes. Either do something totally different or leave it aloneComment

There are enough insecure people out there who will feel like losers for wearing an outdated jersey, sadly. However small the update.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Cleveland says they'll stay the Indians for 2021. They won't be the Cleveland Baseball Club for a transition phase.
They also won't be called the Cleveland Tribe or anything like that. Seems like the new name will be something dramatically different from their current one.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
MLB owners position is the same as last season:
We take less of a hit if we play less games so this isn’t shocking.
They did this last season and kept delaying the start because they didn’t want more than 50 games."Ma'am I don't make the rules up. I just think them up and write em down". - Cartman
