I love stuff like this. I follow a guy on Twitter that posts them a lot.

There's a double sided stat about Pete Rose and Tony Gwynn.

Pete Rose could come back to baseball, go 750-for-750, and still have a lower career batting average than Tony Gwynn.

However, Tony Gwynn could come back, go 750-for-750 and still have 300 fewer hits than Rose.

I'll have to go through that guy's account and find some more.

EDIT: Nolan Ryan could return to baseball, strike out the next 1,027 consecutive batters, and still have a lower career strike out percentage than Randy Johnson.

Barry Bonds could come back, go 213-for-213 with 213 home runs, and Mark McGwire would still have a better home run rate. McGwire could come back, steal a base in every game for 3 straight years, and still have fewer stolen bases than Bonds.

Yeah I don't know who "they" was in my post. I was mostly just yelling at the wind...I think I'm too young to start doing that though.

With Jason Benetti on TV and Len Kasper on the radio the White Sox have come a long way from the days of Hawk Harrelson throwing tantrums and going silent for 5 minutes forcing Steve Stone to handle both play-by-play and color commenting.

You could even say they steal 70 bases for each of the next 20 seasons and still not pass him.

And he's also been caught stealing more times than any active player has stolen bases!

Today's the 30th anniversary of the biggest trade in Blue Jays history.

Jays dealt 29 year old 4 time gold glove winner and 3 time all star Tony Fernandez along with 27 year old silver slugger and top 10 MVP vote getter Fred McGriff for some 31 year old who just hit .232 named Joe Carter and a 22 year old all star named Roberto Alomar.

On paper that sounds like a huge steal for the Padres, but we all know how that deal worked out for the Jays.

Fernandez and McGriff did have AS seasons with SD, but both had short tenures there and got dealt for almost nothing.

yeah, this kind of stuff is fantastic. if the Yankees went 162-0 for the next 4 seasons they still wouldn't have the most wins all-time. but if the Yankees went 0-162 for the next 4 years, they'd still have the best winning percentage all-time

              How about this ...

Barry Bonds had the same amount of walks (232) in the 2004 season that Sammy Sosa had combined in his first 8 seasons. Bonds did it in 617 PA over 147 games. Sosa 3,795 PA over 926 games.

Rays owner still committed to that split season TB/Montreal idea which would begin in 2028.

Just move the team and be done with it. Baseball down there just isn't working. Let Miami be Floridas team, give some deserving market the Rays. Rays attendance in other ballparks is low and their own park cant draw either. Whatever city they move to, you not only get thousands of extra fans for home games, you get more interest on road ballparks too.

Today was Minor League Affiliate Restructuring Day.

Each team will have 4 affiliates next year (AAA, AA, High-A, Low-A), which reduces the total number of Minor League teams from 160 to 120.

Like I said before, Dunedin being demoted as Jays lower A affiliate will be interesting given how that's where their renovated training facility is and I doubt they'll be dropped as an affiliate anytime soon.

I could see more changes again in a year for the Jays. Buffalo as AAA, Dunedin or Vancouver as AA, the other as high A, and either New Hampshire as low A, or they get dropped altogether.

Perhaps even bringing Ottawa back(longtime Expos affiliate who had a short stint later on with Os and Phillies in AAA) and they become the Low A affiliate (and Vancouver as high A, so Dunedin moves to AA).

Next thing we look for is if MLB decides to break up the PCL and IL and organizes AAA into more sensible divisions. Good chance it happens.

Then we hope for schedules and the season to start in May.

All leagues should simply be one. Is there even a need for PCL and IL?

Even AA, is there a reason to have diff leagues, or could they just have divisions in a league rather than diff leagues based on geographic locations.

I know a lot of people are upset that they contracted some minor league teams, but this was long overdue. The minors have been bloated for a long time. Hopefully this allows the trend of improving conditions for the players to continue.
