Re: MLB Off-Topic
Honestly, now that the word is out that the Red Sox also reported the Yankees for using a YES network camera to steal signs this just looks like two kids bringing mom into their fight."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Re: MLB Off-Topic
As stated in this thread, teams have been attempting to steal signs for 100 years. It's only a big deal because Boston used a medium that wasn't considered. And like you said, it's being made a bigger deal because they're in first place and it was against the Yankees.Boston Red Sox

Re: MLB Off-Topic
So I'm confused. Nothing in any article broke down how exactly the hitter got the sign in time to know what pitch was coming.
I read:
1. Catcher puts down sign
2. This is transmitted to Apple watch
3. Coach reads the sign on watch
4. Coach relays sign to player in dugout
5. Player in dugout relays this to runner on second
6. Runner on second relays this to hitter
Surely the pitch has already been thrown by the time it gets to the hitter.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Oh man I didn't care about this... But if they got caught, and then just panicked and pointed the finger at someone else... That would be hilarious.

Red Sox need the death penalty. Contract them. Do what you need to do. There's no excuse for using an Apple Watch in baseball.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

I'm watching the Red Sox feed for Jays/Sox...I didn't hear a word uttered by the announcers in the pre-game. Hilarious to me that they are just ignoring it..."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. Yes, stealing signs is a part of the game.. but using smartwatches to relay it is not.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Ya...I think this one is black and white. It's not that they stole signs; it's that they did it in a manner that is specifically banned. The Red Sox were caught red handed...Dombrowski didn't even try and deny it."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. Re: MLB Off-Topic
As a Red Sox fan I'm pretty pissed right now. Actually I don't even know what I'm more mad about, the fact that they cheated or that they knew what Brady and the Patriots just went through for over TWO YEARS and still did it anyway.
And they couldn't even beat the Yankees by cheating.
Like I want to go throw myself off a tall building at this point.Comment

Issue a punishment and let's move on. No need to drag this out

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I remember all the derision when people were falsely accusing the Jays of stealing signs but at least they did that from a more or less organic way rather than using electronic devices. I say the Red Sox need to be punished hard for this but i'm not quite sure what MLB can do. Nonetheless if i'm an opposing manager I will want the umpires to make sure they don't have any electronic devices in their dugout and whatnot.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
