Re: MLB Off-Topic
A fact I saw from reddit which would make for a fun game. Let's see who can have the longest "connection" between generations using only 3 players.
Ex:
Al Kaline played against Satchel Paige and Robin Yount. Paige made debut in 1927, Yount retired in 1993.
You can choose to do this based on opponents like the above example did, or even teammates.Comment

MLB Off-Topic
I came up with a 70 year span:
Dixie Walker started playing in 1931 and retired in 1949; Minnie Minoso started playing in 1949 and retired in 1980; Cal Ripken Jr started playing in 1980 and retired in 2001.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I'll start this up with one of my own. Paul Molitor.
He hit against Bartolo Colon and played against Ron Fairly.
Fairly made his debut in 1958. Colon retired in 2018.
Not as impressive as the Kaline one, it's still close though, but just using one based on a recent player.Last edited by Majingir; 04-03-2020, 12:11 PM.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I'll try. Phil Niekro. Probably better examples of who he played against but this is who he played with.
He played with Warren Spahn on the 1964 Milwaukee Braves (Spahn started in 1942)
He also played with David Wells on the 1987 Toronto Blue Jays (Wells ended his career in 2007).Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Just saw a tweet the other day that's perfect for this.
Minnie Minoso was teammates with Luis E. Tiant (debuted in the Negro Leagues in 1930, the famous pitcher's dad) and also played against Eliezer Alfonzo, who retired from baseball in 2011.Last edited by TripleCrown9; 04-03-2020, 12:27 PM.Boston Red Sox

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Hall of Famer Al Kaline passed away today. He was 85.
Spent his entire 22-year career with the Tigers. He made 13 straight All-Star games from 1955-1967, 15 total. Never finished higher than 2nd in the MVP race, which he did twice.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I was watching a season recap video of the Jays 92 regular season. We should have these videos for all teams every season.
One funny part was how Jays playoff race was so close, they went all out to get a game they were leading in during very rainy weather over with asap. They didnt want it called early, so they tried going fast to get the game official before the umps called it.
The "hurry up offense" included them swinging at literally everything, including a wild pitch.
And fan appreciation night after they clinched the division.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I was curious about the Yordano Ventura situation (last I heard his contract hadn't been paid out to his estate), so I googled him and this article came up:
If you watch the video, they retrace his path up the wreck site...pretty incredible that he got through all of the unpaved/really dangerous road in the mountains and then ran off the paved road. Almost makes me wonder if he fell asleep...anyway, I thought it was interesting and painted a more complete picture of why we saw his volatile behavior on the field.
This article fills in more on what he was dealing with: https://www.kansascity.com/sports/ml...133099124.htmlLast edited by Sportsforever; 04-08-2020, 11:31 AM."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'm thinking more "what a complete POS" than "what could have been". Disgusting. I hope this costs him everything he has including his freedom.Comment
