Only 4 at bats, all 4 were home runs, 3 of those were lead off home runs! Only AL player to ever do this at home in MLB history, 3rd overall in 100+ years. 2nd oldest ever.

Theres some nice games all around on there. I saw they also have Randy Johnsons perfect game up there, the entire 2005 home run derby, 2000 All star game and others.

I might check out the ASG. Say what you want about steroid era, but 2000 ASG had the big time guys all in this game.

I wonder what's the most star studded ASG ever. I want to see those ones. 97 seems to be one of those.
1999 was electric; Fenway Park, Ted Williams makes an appearance, Pedro strikes out the first 5 hitters at the height of the steroid era. I counted and 10 of the 20 starters (DH plus starting pitchers) are in the HOF while several more SHOULD be except for steroids.

Next week SN is showing Roy Halladays most memorable games as a Blue Jay.

I hope they also show his final game in Toronto, which was as a member of the Phillies.

I'll never forget that Bautista vs Halladay matchup. Fans got the game they wanted. Halladay looked like he always does, but the Jays won.

No, I'm not saying I never knew he played baseball. I'm saying I never knew he played games at an actual MLB park.

                  Re: MLB Off-Topic

I gotta tell you...I am pretty appalled with the MLB Owners and MLBPA agreeing to reduce the draft from 40 rounds to just 5 (10 max from my understanding). Using the Covid 19 pandemic to further their agenda on vastly scaling back the developmental leagues (Minors) and now drastically cutting back on the amount of players that can earn a decent signing bonus to help them in the very lean years (and maybe permanent lean years as making it to the Show is the hardest thing in the sports world IMO).

They are doing this because it will reduce the signing bonus tiers and save the owners $29 million dollars total.

What is shocking is the players union making these kind of concessions and basically giving the finger at future generations of potential big leaguers for their own gain today.

The game is already suffering from poor play at the plate (just awful contact ratios, higher strikeout numbers than ever before) and lack of basic fundamentals.

The sheer disregard of the infrastructure that helped a lot of these veteran players get to where they are now is alarming.

Now you will have high school kids scrambling to play Juco ball. And that has a ripple effect on the players who are trying to be true student athletes (knowing they probably will never be drafted to play pro ball but are playing in school for the love of the game). There are only 11.7 scholarships at the D1 level of baseball. that is it. Even less at D2 (like 4-5 max).

So where are all these high school players going to play? Well...some will forgo the pro draft and head to junior colleges and wait it out for a year or two. Some will go and fulfill their scholarship commitments which is fine. But what about all those players who do not have the grades or the financial resources or both going to do?

Sign as undrafted free agents for 20K and toil in the minors with no money in the bank.

The Owners have successfully cut off hundreds of deserving draft picks who could have gotten 100, 200 or 300K as a nice base for their professional career and if things did not work out at least they had some financial security to pay their bills while developing in the minors. Or help pay back their parents who spent 10’s of thousands of dollars to help their baseball dreams with trainers, equipment , perfect game showcases etc etc etc.

Prospect showcase tournaments are a massive billion dollar industry.

There will be a huge amount of scout jobs gone. Minor league teams that are being eliminated (42 I believe) all those jobs.....gone.

Baseball is going in the wrong direction. And the current players union is as just as culpable as the billionaire owners.

Just a poor decision imo for the long term quality of the game.

                    Re: MLB Off-Topic

The minor league teams that won't be part of minor league baseball anymore are being put together to create a new league. So those people will still have jobs.

The minor leagues are too big anyway. Organizations don't need 7 levels of development. I don't think increasing the numbers of player in minor league baseball will do anything to the quality of play. In your opinion it's getting worse with that many now. Having each organization with 1 fewer team in their system isn't going to change the talent level. The vast majority of guys in the minors have no shot of playing beyond AA much less making to it the MLB level regardless.

Shortening the draft to only 5 rounds is really strange to me, but those kids that were good enough to get drafted out of high school were certainly recruited and will likely find a place to play somewhere. I get emails daily about programs looking for players for next year.
