Re: MLB Off-Topic
The Braves and him have both admitted they did not talk after a certain point. I fully believe the agent told him not to call and told the Braves all communications had to go through the agent. This keeps stupid players from hurting the negotiation position. Teams have to play by the rules the agent sets or they risk pissing off the agent and losing out on players.
Freeman truly didn't want to leave and I think he wasn't given all the information. He was really upset and it hurt him that the Braves didn't offer him anything close. Then he finally finds out the truth and you could see it hurt him to find this stuff out.
This could wear on him, his personal life, etc. I wouldn't be shocked if he doesn't try to force a trade or just retire. It just depends on how happy he is in LA.
Maybe the Dodgers will let him buy out his deal? Maybe this will force him into early retirement?.. or maybe, like Kershaw said, he'll buy in. Its not like he signed with the Reds. You want free speech?

Re: MLB Off-Topic
My two cents. Freeman should of stayed where he felt he was at home in Atlanta. Dollar signs don't mean **** compared to feeling at home. You're already well off financially. Wasn't necessary.
Everybody loves Freddie in Atlanta. Was a poor decision and maybe his wife wanted L.A. I don't know all the facts. But obviously it was a mistake.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
All of the reports I have seen come out in regards to Freddie's commentary with the Braves is that they were via proxy by way of Chipper.
I'm not saying the Braves were telling Chipper what to tell Freeman. I am saying, Freeman is on record as saying he was talking to Chipper throughout the whole process.
It was reported during the strike that in his last conversation with Chipper before the Olsen trade, Chipper had told Freeman and Liberty doesn't mess around and make a bunch of offers. Freddie was of the impression he wasn't going to get another "final offer" after the one he turned down, because that was the impression Chipper had from the front office.
So basically, Freddie had no reason to expect another "final offer" after the last one he had turned down, because that was consistent with what he and Chipper had talked about in relation to how Liberty's front office has worked.
I agree with anybody that says, they find it hard to trust an agent 100% with their best interests, but that's exactly what 95-99% of athletes and agents agree to do. Anytime they don't ie Lamar Jackson, the media makes a stink about or the clubs do.
At the end of the day, Anthopolus was told their final offer was rejected and he was forced to act on that. It's not like the Braves had their final offer rejected, then called up Freddie to say, "are you sure" then made the trade for Olsen.
Personally, I hated losing Freddie, but I'm not mad about where we are going forward. Personally, I also feel Freddie's agent should be banned from MLB (ie have his ability to be a player agent in MLB revoked) for not communicating appropriately with his client on a team's offer. To me though, that's more of a "MLB needs to do an investigation and fire the guy" then "Freddie needs to sue the guy" type of scenario.
(Everything I talked about between Freddie and Chipper and ATL came out via ESPN+ articles during the strike and immediately following it before the Olsen trade. Some of the info may have come from "TalkingChop", but I honestly do not remember which reports came from where other then the Chipper Article being on ESPN.)Golf: Bubba

I'm surprised this wasn't a bigger deal, I know he's not a big name guy, but Robbie Grossman's all time errorless streak ended the other day
CHICAGO -- June 13, 2018. That was the last time Robbie Grossman committed an error. In the 440 games since, the Tigers’ outfielder has been a testament to perfection on defense, going errorless longer than any position player in the history of Major League Baseball. But all good things must

Hell, to this day I sometimes go back to the Bill Buckner play and wonder whether that could've been scored as a single.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

If the sun got in his eyes, then the play is no longer of ordinary effort. I can see how if they sat down and debated it for a moment they could decide that this was a hit instead of an error.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Jays fired Montoyo!
First time in 14 years they've fired a coach midseason
They've promoted John Schneider to interim coach.
Interesting decision. Schneider was the guy fans thought would've gotten the job after Gibbons. He's been the Jays manager in the minors when all their young guys were coming up.
And people are wondering if what happened last night was the final straw. He challenged a play that Vlad told him not to, and it ended up being a wasted challenge and Vlad didnt seem too happy. Not THE reason for his firing, but he's also dead last in the majors in challenge percentage, winning under 40% of challenges. Makes you wonder what's been going on lately in the clubhouse. Jays recently held a players only meeting too.
Hopefully this is what turns around their season because the past few weeks has been horrible.Last edited by Majingir; 07-13-2022, 02:13 PM.Comment

Gotta give credit where it's due:
Don't demean guys like this for doing fantastically at his job with threats of a robot strike zone because we have others who shouldn't have the job to begin with.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
