According to multiple reports, the Brewers are expected to name Astros assistant GM David Stearns, 30, as their new GM as early as Monday, as first reported by Fox Sports. Prior to being hired by the Astros, Stearns was director of baseball operations for the Indians from 2011-12.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
So, interesting stat from the Fox broadcast of the Cubs-Cards game.
From 2000 on during the Pujols Era (Est. 2001), the Cardinals played .560 baseball, which was best in the NL.
After the Pujols Era (2012-present), the Cardinals have played .575 ball, which is tops in baseball.
I'm sure there are several precedents with teams losing a Hall of Fame caliber player and getting better, but I remember thinking Pujols leaving was going to hurt St. Louis badly at the time. Crazy to think they've gotten even better instead.
The difference in sample sizes should be noted...as should the fact that, in at least one of those "w/Pujols" years, he missed a good bit (iirc)
But that sample size...over the course of those first 15 years, there were some really good Houston, Chicago, and Milwaukee teams. The competition in the division--while coming around this year---i don't think has been quite as consistently strong.
Nonetheless, still surprising. Chalk it up to better SP, too?Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

Minor league season ends and those who performed well get their paid dues to get a crack at the big league level, and every MLB player will need a day off time to time, particularly those who aren't racing for a playoff spot.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
