Fox would probably try and plug the return of the X Files by having Mark Mulder in the booth with Scully

Greg Bird is out for the entire 2016 season.

I'm not one to celebrate injury, but I'm not sad about it either.

Interesting article about Tony Mullane, the first switch pitcher:

Tony Mullane was a self-indulgent prima donna, a racist, and a pioneer. He was larger than life, and precisely the kind of modern antihero who demonstrates that being great has nothing to do with being good. Trailblazer and heel, immigrant and ace, he deserves to be remembered. Sometimes the 19th century can feel unfathomably long ago and far away. But Tony Mullane feels as modern as Barry Bonds.

I could not stand AJ Pierzynski and secretly hoped he'd hit the DL last year when we signed him...but he was surprisingly good.

The difference is Bird plays for the team I hate.

Same here, Texeira will likely have another DL stint this coming season as well. The Yanks will have a hole at 1B/DH if that's the case.

MLB posted this bit of info about the Mets Pitching Staff in 2015: Now imagine a healthy Zack Wheeler added who is known to bring the heat at 96+.

Statcast™ helps show how the group stands out from the pack. In the big picture, no team brought the heat last year like the Mets, whose staff combined for a whopping 5,346 pitches clocked at 95 mph or more during the regular season. That's nearly 1,000 more pitches than the second-place Indians (4,455) and more than double the totals of 14 teams.
