Anything to save me from having to visite the dump that is the city of Pawtucket.

Lots of outrage locally over the move. Tradition and the team wanting the land in Providence being the two biggest issues. I personally welcome the move. A stadium in Providence will offer a much better experience when attending games. And even with all the renovations McCoy Stadium has seen better days.

Now the new baby blue uniforms they plan to wear I have issue with. Yuck!

Though it's not a priority, Manfred said he'd be open to shortening the season to 154 games.

Normally, I'd be against less baseball, but I wouldn't mind that.

I'd be in favor of it as well though that would probably mean starting the season later.

Wow, every two days with Manfred there's some new change being explored. I mean, I dislike most of them, but the willingness to try and change and evolve is good to see I guess.

I'd be ok with fewer regular season games only if it made all the playoff series best of 7.

Nope, not for the wild card at least.

As for the shorter season... I don't see why we just can't take a week to two weeks off spring training and tighten up the schedule. I really like the schedule as it is now.

I disagree. McCoy has been a staple of Pawtucket and the state of Rhode Island for over 40 years. I've been to McCoy many of times and it has always been a great experience. Providence is congested with traffic as it is with the mall. Adding a ballpark on the waterfront will make it 10x worse.

Plus Providence can be considered just as bad of a dump as Pawtucket.

I do agree with the uniforms. Not a fan of those.

Thing is Pawtucket and where McCoy is located makes it a dump compared to most modern AAA stadiums. Heck, even Portland is located in a better area with more things to do before and after games.

A destination downtown Providence stadium makes perfect sense on so many levels.

Only loser here is the city of Pawtucket. And to that I say too bad.

The fans also lose. Like I said Downtown Providence already has traffic problems as it is. Putting a new stadium there would add more traffic, making fans less interested in going to games. The McCoy area doesn't have as bad a traffic problem as Downtown providence (it's still not great, but what do you expect?). Plus that area is not as bad as you're making it seem to be. I've never been to any other AAA stadium, so I cannot compare locations, or the scenery. But it's not the worst part of Pawtucket.

I would go to games regardless of location, but the Pawsox have such a rich history in this state, it would be sad to see them go.

Half the country isn't ready for baseball as it is when it starts (weather-wise), moving that 2 weeks forward will only make it worse.

I would love to see it shortened back to 148 games and have the playoffs/World Series in late August/early September.

Yea, I hadn't considered that but you are absolutely right. The season just can't start any earlier than it already does.

I'm against most changes (really love it the way it is) but I wouldn't be opposed to shortening the season at all. The end of season theatrics would be just as fun at the 150 game mark as they are at the 160 game mark.

A California lawmaker wants to ban smokeless tobacco at all baseball games in the state. ALL, as in Amateur or pro, youth and adult.

The image of the big-league baseball player working a wad of chewing tobacco while at bat may be going the way of the $1 ballpark beer, at least in California.
