Re: MLB Off-Topic
The A's won't be the "San Jose Athletics".....not even anytime soon. The Giants are absolutely not going to give their territory to the Athletics. The Giants even took over NorCal even more by moving their AAA affiliate from Fresno to Sac-Town. No matter how many times the A's appeal to the courts to get the territorial rights to San Jose, it will not be overturned. They will either stay in Oakland or move out of state. I'm thinking they stay in Oakland because the Raiders will beat them out of the door first for relocation.Comment

Man...If you think the exchange rate makes it difficult for Toronto to spend a ton of money than that issue is magnified tenfold by putting a team in Mexico. I'm guessing if they ever put a team there the most likely spot is Mexico City.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

The CAD has no impact on the Jays' spending. They hedge."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Good to know that, I made that comment because I remember when the CAD was ridiculously low compared to the USD and NHL teams in Canada not named Maple Leafs, Canadiens and Canucks were struggling mightily and cited the exchange rate as the major factor in their problems.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Mexico City's murder rate would be middle of the pack (at worst) among MLB cities. I don't think Manfred was referring to Ciudad Juarez or Nuevo Laredo as expansion possibilities.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. In HS I made it to nationals in a business competition thing and they were in San Antonio. For one of the day trips, we drove down to Laredo and walked across the border so we could check out the shops and buy fake Oakleys and whatnot. Decade and a half later, you couldn't pay me any amount of money to do that.Comment
