In the end someone will always complain about every playoff format no matter what. Everyone does for the NFL, NBA and March madness. Let’s just enjoy the games. This playoff year with these teams could be magical. Let’s go Yankees!!!

Personally, I love it. It keeps more teams alive for the playoffs, more fanbases interested in their teams, and it puts a premium on winning your division. It also makes things a bit easier for frontrunning teams too. Wild Card teams before the advent of the WC game had it too easy. Now they have to burn their ace and win a toss-up game just to play in the LDS. And above all else, MLB is an entertainment product, and there are few things in sports as entertaining as a do-or-die October baseball game (imo).

Actually nah, I was vehemently against it from the very start, even before the Braves lost to a team that was 5 games behind them. And I'm on record with that.

And if you used it for a Wild Card at all it wouldn't make much sense. At least having a Wild Card made up a bit for the whole "someone won a division but it was a weak *** division so you shouldn't get dicked as the #2 in the superior division." And at least it's an actual series, so that's fine by me.

A do-or-die game should only be between teams that are tied in the standings. Period.

It's completely illogical. It possesses zero logic whatsoever.

Look at all the teams that treated today and this past weekend like a spring training game, with the mass line changes, taking players out for ovation's sake, playing players at all 9 positions for gimmick's sake.

Rob Manfred and morons in baseball media are hellbent on bitching and moaning about and changing everything else but on this, this idiocy---this TRAVESTY---they're silent and they'll remain silent. They love the manufactured, fake drama.
Personally I would prefer to not even have a wild card. There wasn't anything wrong with the division winners meeting in the LCS and then the World Series. This is what people want, it's been around for a while...and in the end, it's still baseball, so I go with it.

The funny thing was being assured by people that it actually happens and that it was no big deal. What a clown show.

There is no playoff format after a 162 game schedule that would be logical going off of your arguments. The only logical way to crown a champion if you're so worried about the importance of the regular season is for everyone to play each other the exact same amount of times and whoever has the best record is the champion.

A 5 game difference in the standings over 162 games is minimal. You're acting like the team that finishes with 97 wins is astronomically better than the team that finishes with 92 wins.

This year, for example, the Yankees are astronomically better than the Twins. By pretty much every measure.

And no, like I said, the logic behind 3 division winners + 1 Wild Card to make up for the fact that one of the teams might be stuck in a stacked division that year or one of the division winners is in a weak division that year is pretty sound. That was pretty decent. Could have made the Wild Card face a tougher path by having all the series games on the road, or some other way for example.

They should just play a bunch of games and have the team with the highest overall WAR be declared season victor. Or do it like boxing with a bunch of judges, but then you already have so many issues with that kind of declaration in that sport. Might feel more like the Olympics that way though. Maybe that's why they got rid of baseball in the first place.

No. The Indians are astronomically better. The Astros are astronomically better. And should it come down to it, the Dodgers are as well.

I don't like something fake and unprovable determining the outcome.

I also don't like the WAR idea. HEY-YO!

I don't think anybody does. That would be a terrible idea.

As a disclaimer, umpires do not fall under this umbrella by the way.
