        Yeah, looks like 11 years ago. They retired Paul Waner's #11.

        Speaking of 11, that's how many days into August the Giants will be retiring Barry Bonds' number 25.

        Apparently Paul Waner had the most badass nickname ever. Big Poison.

            It's also worth noting that Paul Waner's #11 was retired by the Pirates 11 years ago. 11 also being the date in August when Barry Bonds' #25 will be retired on August 11. Against the Pirates.

            Interesting fact: the Waner brothers Paul and Lloyd still hold the MLB record for hits by a group of siblings. Big Poison's 3152 hits plus Little Poison's 2459 hits = 5611 hits combined.

            Speaking of Lloyd Waner...he has 25.0 career WAR and is somehow in the Hall of Fame. The number 25 has some significance but I can't quite put my finger on it...

                                                        I realize the Pete Rose comment was a joke, but even with the Supreme Court's decision today--and the scramble for states to legalize and cash in on gambling revenue--professional sports organizations are still going to have pretty severe "you can't bet on sports" policies for its members. Aside from the abolition of federal criminal statutes.
