Sounds a lot like Jose Bautista, there's a contingent of Jays fans that grouses about him coming up small when he has runners on base though it seemed to me he had better success this season in those situations.

Should be interesting to see how Jays fans react to Donaldson if there's a perception that he comes up small in big spots. This is a fanbase that WILL get ugly if guys don't reach expectations.

Eh, I don't know much about Batista other than on field stuff but I think Donaldson will win fans over pretty quickly.

I'm actually not trying to downplay him as much as it might seem. I will miss him in the green and gold. I just don't think he's as consistent as some think he is.

He can be very frustrating at times.

        Ah, I gotcha.

The ultimate point remains.. high leverage is up to the person in the situation. It wouldn't surprise me if he does experience more anxiety in those situations, which causes him to "press" and become inconsistent.

I pretty much echo kehlis' views. What stood out to my eye though was not the coming up small in big spots but I felt he had a knack for coming up big in small spots. Eg; Hitting a 3 run jack late in a game when the team was already up by 6.

I'll miss him for sure though. He's very open with the beat writers also. He isn't very elegant but gets his point across and isn't all clichés.

So apparently this is Jesus Montero now.

Doesn't mean he's learned how to hit. Or field at any position. Or run. But at least he isn't fat, so that's a start.

Good! Even though I'm a Yankee fan I'm glad he's in better shape and hopefully the Mariners make a run at the playoffs.

A federal judge on Thursday denied a request from rooftop clubs overlooking Wrigley Field to temporarily halt installation of signs they say will block their view and violate a contract they have with the Chicago Cubs.

Glad to see Montero trying to take his career seriously now but after what he did last year coming in so fat...He's still got a mountain to climb.

I'm always happy to see a player take his opportunity and talent seriously like that. Good on Montero. I hope it translates into success on the field.

                          Busty McBusterson seems more appropriate.

The Paw Sox have been around since '73! All good things come to an end I suppose just like how the Jays moved their triple A affiliate away from Syracuse.

That is unfortunate, but at least they'll still be in the Red Sox organization. And they should still be the Red Sox, just in a different city.

Although it won't be as catchy as the PawSox.
