I agree on all of the movies listed so far...I'll add a few more things that are must watch for a baseball fan:

For Love of the Game (Kevin Costner movie that is underrated IMO)

When it was a Game (HBO documentary type....composed of personal footage of players going back to the 1920's...just amazing)

Ken Burn's Baseball (not as all encompassing as it should be...really focuses on New York, but it really is enjoyable and a must watch IMO)
"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers Hornsby

I've seen Rookie of the Year and The Sandlot, both great kid movies in general. But haven't seen many of the classics as far as baseball movies go. Not that I don't know enough about them, just never sat down and watched.

That Field of Dreams poster is classic. You can definitely tell it's a 1980s movie when all they needed to sell it was Costner standing there smirking.

Moneyball is probably my fav baseball movie, honestly. Bull Durham and Major League are fun, but I don't feel the need to watch those again. I thought 42 was too slick and distant. Like it was made to be shown in classrooms to educate, and not really as a memorable piece of art.

There have been a ton of bad/mediocre baseball movies, tho. I guess that's more a problem with sports movies in general.

I haven't actually seen alot of baseball movies. Even field of dreams I didn't find to be as great as people claim it was. Though it did have cool story and ending in it(I didn't like the sidestory though with the whole financial issues stuff)

The more recent ones like moneyball and 42 are ones I liked though. And that knuckleball movie(with Wakefield,Dickey ect.) too.

A lot of the kid baseball movies I've grown out of, although I did watch The Sandlot again a couple months ago and it was still funny. My favorites these days are 61*, 42, The Rookie, A League of Their Own, and though dated I do still like The Natural and Eight Men Out. In terms of humor, Major League has got to be the best to me. Never was too much a fan of Field of Dreams.

Yes, it will stay fairly high because he's a speedy left-handed batter who hits to all fields and rarely hits pop-ups, but the main driver of his BABIP is an unsustainable LD%. The Joey Votto impression will eventually stop and his BABIP will take a tumble.

                              He's still awesome.

Pride of the Yankees is a great flick. Gary Cooper was the perfect guy to play Gehrig.
