Yeah, I don't really see the point of moving 1 day...If anything, move it until August 31st...

They moved it to August 1st cause they didn't want deals happening on Sunday, and then guys finding out in the middle of the afternoon game that they got dealt.

That's pretty dumb. Never been an issue for 31sts that have fallen on a Sunday before, if I recall correctly. How about just moving the deadline to the evening for that day just like they used to? I loved the deadline happening in the evening. That was super fun.

I'm sure teams likely complained about it and they fixed it.

                      It doesn't hurt anyone.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

In the days leading up to Rob Manfred's one-year anniversary as commissioner on Jan. 25, ESPN asked their writers what one change or innovation they would make to improve baseball if the sport started over today.

Baseball's current 25-man roster structure is outdated, writes David Schoenfield. With one innovation, baseball could give teams more options and introduce even more strategy into the sport.

Minor league player salaries are one of MLB's dirty little secrets, says Tony Blengino, who explains that a college student's summer job pays better than a typical baseball farmhand's does.

They need to setup a players union or get ingrafted into the MLBPA so we don't have to keep creating them each year.
