Eh, it's a longstanding thing with Boras and Toronto but I find it kind of funny that his first ever client was a Jays signee.

Pretty sure it's just a "we don't really like him + there just hasn't been a reason to sign one of his clients" situation rather than an outright ban. He always goes for long contracts, and the Jays don't like long contracts. Or free agents, for whatever reason.

Oh I know, there's no actual ban or hate towards either side. It's just a long standing thing that they haven't done business together.

Hope harper isnt same situation either. Gonna suck if he goes to yankees one day. We're in the generation where the younger guys grewup during steroid days and saw yankees cheat/dominate for years and prob jumped on their bandwagon and dreamt of playing for them.

Not wanting to cost yourself hundreds of millions of dollars by injuring yourself now equates to wanting to play for the Yankees?

I see this is about to become Strasburg Part II, but this time in New York.

I want to know when Boras/Harvey told the Mets organization that 180 innings was the recommended cap by Dr. Andrews.

Reports are there is no cap.

                    I got my answer:

So much for the 180-inning limit. It appears the Mets' Matt Harvey will pitch in the postseason after all, according to his piece in The Players’ Tribune.

"Boras first reached out to the Mets about the 180-inning limit one week ago, on Aug. 29."

Boras screwed up and now his client is going to suffer an enormous PR hit (aside from weakening the Mets during a playoffs race and probably his standing on the locker room) if he stops pitching.

                    What a mess.

Who cares about his reputation...I am completely fine with it from Harvey's perspective. Why put so many innings on your arm in your first year back from TJ, when you can possibly do something to it again and cost yourself 100s of millions of dollars, like Josh Johnson. Even though Johnson had different arm issues and never got TJ to my knowledge. But why risk it?

This whole Matt Harvey thing is a flaming bag of poo right now. I agree with your sentiment but I remember in spring training the Mets had all these contingency plans to lessen Harvey's workload, go to a 6 man rotation at times and put a cap on Harvey's innings. Harvey threw a bit of a fit and complained to the media so the Mets relented a bit. (not totally as they did skip a couple starts I believe and did go with a six man rotation at least once) Harvey was adamant that he was ok and everything would be fine.

Now Boras goes to the Mets when they're in the midst of going into the playoffs and springs this on the organization?! It's a pretty crummy job by Boras IMO. Oh, it's the absolute right thing for him to do for his client but it screws the Mets.

This is one of the reasons why Boras isn't particularly well liked.

                          Don't know, maybe him?

I got no problem with a cap, Dr. Andrews says jump, I ask how high?

But there is no question this could've been handle better by Boras. The Mets have been contending for a long time now and this is the moment Boras decides to bring this up? Yikes.

The Phillies haven’t yet decided what to do with GM Ruben Amaro. On the surface, that seems strange, since other teams could soon hire top GM candidates to fill their open positions. The likely reason the Phillies haven’t made a move, Rosenthal suggests, is that incoming club president Andy MacPhail prefers not to rush decisions.

I feel bad for Phillies fans...

                            Also on Boras/Harvey/Mets:

Harvey’s agent Scott Boras conducted a study regarding Tommy John recipients similar to Harvey, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. Boras looked at pitchers who never exceeded 200 innings in a season, had Tommy John surgery, then returned with a roughly 200 inning workload.

Four pitchers fit into the statistical bucket – Shaun Marcum, Josh Johnson, Jarrod Parker, and Kris Medlen. Three of them required a second Tommy John surgery while the fourth, Marcum, is quite familiar with the disabled list. Boras offers Stephen Strasburg and Jordan Zimmermann as two examples who built their innings total more carefully. Obviously, both pitchers have yet to experience another elbow related injury.

To be fair, any statistician would warn against taking this case study at face value. For one, the sample size consists of four pitchers. It’s interesting that all four pitchers have experienced continual health problems, but it’s hardly statistically significant. Also, correlation does not equal causation. It’s possible other factors were at play for Marcum, Johnson, Parker, and Medlen. This is not to say Boras, Harvey, and the Mets should ignore the case study. It just isn’t a smoking gun.
