You guys realize there are literally hundreds of classic games on youtube, right?

Hmm...thinking of Junior reminds me of when Trout came in the league.

Obviously, it took a bit longer for Junior to get a toehold on the league but his excitement and joy was just overwhelming and fun to watch.

As great as Junior was, is there a player that has had greater numbers than Trout at this stage of his career? I thought of Pujols but not even his numbers have been as good. It's amazing how truly tremendous Trout is and the fact he only has 1 MVP despite his insane numbers (kid has a career .956 OPS since coming into the league 5 years ago).

Ted Williams OPS/OPS+ in his first four full years: 1.123/190. Trout is more in DiMaggio/Mantle world when it comes to hitting numbers, which is a great place to be.

I was going to say he's most similar to Mantle or Williams. I think some people have become so used to Trout's greatness that we're vastly under appreciating just how much of a once in a generation guy he is. I daresay we may look back 30 years from now and look at his numbers and wonder why he doesn't have as many accolades as he should've.

He could very well be this generation's Ted Williams in that respect.

Trout is AMAZING...he really is...and he's still not in William's league when it comes to hitting. Like I was saying, he is very similar to DiMaggio/Mantle at this age, but Williams at this point was roughly 30-35% more valuable at the plate than he is. That says more about Williams than it does Trout though...

If his greatest comparison is from 50 years ago...

I still think he should've won over Miggy's triple crown year. I get it was a triple crown and the first since '78 but Trout was still better.

1967 sir. Carl Yastrzemski never won a World Series, so don't take that from him.

And Ted Williams is one of two players to win 2 Triple Crowns.

EDIT: Also in making sure my numbers were correct, I learned the last time a player from the National League won a Triple Crown was 1937.

Do yourselves a favor and start by watching the Kerry Wood 20-K game. Still the best performance I have ever seen (not live unfortunately). Roger Clemens' first 20-K game against Seattle is a trip, too. Braves-Twins World Series...lots of worthy material.

I love the "oh yeah, that guy!" aspect of watching these classic games. Had that feeling with Lonnie Smith and Dan Gladden, lol.

Pedro's 17K one-hitter in the Bronx for me.

I actually watched the Kerry Wood game live...the most dominant pitching performance I've ever seen. If only Kevin Orie could have fielded that ball at third...I've since watched it twice on youtube.

I believe that is the highest game score of all time...might be wrong though. While that was dominating, Wood's was the most overpowering game I've ever seen. Not a single hard hit ball all day...the Astros were a good hitting team and he made them look bad all day long.

Wood still has the highest game score (those 3 extra K's!). I want to say 102. Could easily confirm via Google. Scherzer's 2nd no hitter against the Mets (17 K's) came pretty close this year actually.

Yup...I checked. Woods at 105 is the highest ever...Pedro was only at 98. For some reason I thought I had read that Pedro's was higher for some reason.
