"Seemingly" is the key word there. Totally subjective. Opposing pitchers/teams will decide in their minds what is okay and what is deserving of pathetic/petty retribution. They should just man up and get the next out.

I don't disagree. I probably prefer a bat flip over the batter who is pissed from a pop-up, if you know what I mean. That one is more of the message to the pitcher like, "You suck and I should have ripped that." At least the bat flip is just a cocky way of saying, "I'm awesome, no matter the pitch or skill of the pitcher."

I'm surprised how many pitchers whip around immediately to watch the flight of a fly ball. I remember when I pitched, the moment the ball was hit in the air, I for whatever reason took quite a long time to turn around. I never looked at one particular thing, I was probably analyzing where I had to backup next. However, in my "staring into oblivion," I would have a chance to see what the batter did next. If a batter was grumpy on their behalf because I hung one, I didn't take to that kindly. Sure, I told myself to do better next time, but it just ain't right. Which is why I have no problem when Bumgarner barks at other players for doing that (it has nothing to do with him being a Giant, I just get to see it often is all).

I guess my only point was what Teddy did was not in a different category than what Bautista did, so those who had certain emotions for Bats' flip should be the same emotions for Williams. I was neither here nor there on the Bautista flip (I like personality in the game, but mostly just when genuine)... I thought it looked worse than it looked better, though.

What's the pitcher version of a bat flip? I think there should be a bat near the mound and if a pitcher is so inclined after a huge moment he can pick & flip for emphasis. Then the batter can take umbrage and flip his bat in a more spectacular manner. At this point a bat flip challenge should occur, both participants should be given ample time to perform their greatest bat flip routines and a non-partisan group can vote on which player won the flip off

                This has merit.

I was also thinking that on home runs, a team can get an extra +1 run with an acceptably demonstrative bat flip. It could be judged by a roving panel of East German judges.

I don't mind bat flips or pitchers being pumped up if the situation merits it. Just don't be a constant dildo about it.

Cardinals' Chris Correa pleads guilty to hacking the Astros.

After months of waiting, we have some resolution, as former Cardinals’ employee Chris Correa will be indicted by the federal government and he is expected to plead guilty.

Christopher Correa, the ex-Cardinals scouting director, pleaded guilty Friday. Among the details that emerged: He accessed the Astros' info on draft day.
