Todd Helton just missed. He's really close. He'll get in eventually.

This really shouldn't upset me since I don't watch baseball anymore, but I can't help to feel a bit sad after seeing the headline that Chip Caray is leaving the Braves to be the Cardinals broadcaster. He was a great play by play guy in Atlanta, and he provided a ton of great calls. I'm sure the Cards fans will enjoy him.

        Ehh.

He was a nice guy but mostly average IMO. It'd be cool to get Boog but that ain't happening.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I personally liked Chip a lot, or at least I liked him being the Braves announcer.

Some things feel like "home," and listening to him was among those things.

That's how I felt. I always liked his chill, sometimes dry delivery. He gave enough emotion when it was called for, but by default he was easy to listen to.

Due to Nike's 4 jersey policy, the Mariners have decided that their road greys won't be one of those 4.

Their navy blues will be their road jersey,

Their alternate teal jersey is also staying.

I believe their home whites and alternate cream jerseys will be the other two.

I never really liked grey jerseys in baseball. It doesn't stand out the way that others do. In NBA, the statement and icon jerseys (teams dark coloured looks) are nice. Association is just a basic white jersey.

For baseball, I'd be fine with most teams ditching the greys in favour of having just their whites and two dark alternates, along with 1 throwback.

Funny, I'm very opposite of you with that. In fact, the Mariners road grays are one of my favorites, especially when Griffey wore it.

I say ditch the teal, but everybody gotta flair out these days.

Just read up on it, and apparently the new Nike rule is "4 regular uniforms plus the City Connect uniform". The Mariners are also dropping their powder blue Spring Training uniforms.

                  So they'll have:
                  White
                  Sunday cream
                  Northwest Green
                  Navy
                  City Connect.

Arizona will probably have to drop one or two, based on what they consider regular uniforms.

EDIT: Just flipped through uniforms on the Show. The Rangers will probably have to drop their grays also. They've got White, Red, Powder Blue, Gray, Blue.

I wonder how special jerseys get treated.

Jays have a Canada day Red jersey, but would they be allowed to use that in addition to their white, grey, alternate blue, and throwback like baby blue?

Same applies for other teams too I guess. Would the look for independence day, or even different looks for mothers/fathers day be allowed still?

That's how I imagined it would go with cases like Toronto. They wear the red jerseys once. Or Boston's Marathon Day jersey (the regular home jersey that says Boston instead of Red Sox). So I wouldn't think it counts towards the jersey total, which I interpret as 4 regularly-used tops.

As far as Independence Day/Mother or Fathers Day, etc., that usually only affects hats and equipment. The rule is 4 jerseys. From the Sportslogos article:

The move is due to Nike and Major League Baseball’s new policy for this season, which limits teams to just four jerseys (plus one City Connect).
So I read that as not affecting hats/equipment/shoes.

Didn’t know about the four jersey rule. I guess that’s why the Braves creams went away.

The current rule just started this year, according to that article.
