Re: MLB Off-Topic
Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred told reporters recently that he’s interested in expanding from 30 to 32 franchises. The sport’s growing revenues support the concept, and Manfred cited the favorable schedule of 16-team leagues split into four divisions of four. (Tighter divisional footprints would make owners happy, because fewer road games would start at unfavorable times for local television.) -
Re: MLB Off-Topic
MLB is trying to mimic the NFL and I don't like it.
My idea: move Tampa to Montreal with the caveat they must build a stadium, move them to the NL to make an even number of teams in each league and get rid of interleague except for a week or two before the ASG.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Of all the 4 major pro leagues, MLB is the one I actually think should expand more than any of the others, won't mind seeing that at all.
4 divisions per league though, that'll change things up a fair amount. Playoff seeding wise too, who makes it? Unless they go to NFL style format(top 2 get a BYE,lower 2 division winners each face WC team), which is harder to do with MLB since it's a series, not 1 game.Comment

Also, while I'm not at all in favor of expansion I wouldn't at all mind that format. I'm really all for anything that gets rid of interleague play every day of the season.Last edited by kehlis; 02-29-2016, 07:51 PM.Comment

But you know as soon as 2nd in 1 division finishes better than 1st in another, people will be calling for change.Comment

I actually think saying you have to win your division is least dramatic way to do it.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I'd support expansion to 32 teams, but I don't like no WC's.
Maybe do 2 divisions per league, and take the division winners and the next 3 best teams. WC1 is in, while WC2 and WC3 do their one game play-in. I would fully support 4 total 8 team divisions -- would be better for travel too like with the NHL's recent realignment. I assume the West Coast teams have a good bit more air miles then the more closely packed East coast teams.
If they expand playoffs it would have to be to 8 teams per league, and as much as I love more playoff games, the difficulty and small playoff field in baseball is something I don't think should be touched. Byes will never work.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

And Montreal is a garbage city for baseball, just as much as St. Petersburg is. The Rays don't play in Tampa.Comment

When's the 30 for 30 on Cespedes airing?"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: MLB Off-Topic
Ownership wise, i still think Bell(rivals of Rogers(who own Jays)) could be part of the group. Air games on Bell owned TSN and RDS(their french affiliate). TSN has own radio station also. TSN needs MLB back after Rogers took Jays away from them, and also lost most NHL coverage. Owning a team that they can get all 162gms on their network, a great opportunity.
So many things now in world of Canadian media didn't exist back in Expos days, that could benefit them big time. I mean how many potential mlb cities could have an owner also owning their own tv/radio stations, and have temp home for team until new stadium is built? Big plus for Montreal.
