Do the Red Sox play at Coors this year? He'd be wheezing his way to 1st and need oxygen in the dugout.

Just tell him the 1st base coach has a doughnut in his pocket. And not the ones they out on baseball bats.

And no, fat jokes about professional athletes are not tasteless, lol. Especially when they have that much dough.

You're right, 15-20 minutes for an inning is ridiculous. The walk to the mound is too long. The amount of warm up pitches is too much. The need to talk to the pitcher AGAIN after those warm up pitches is unnecessary. Either talk in the beginning or after.

It can all be packaged so much better.

First step I would make mandatory: the new pitcher must come in as the manager steps onto the field. No need to signal anyone. You call it in and the change begins.

If this doesn't happen, the change is disallowed (exception being injury) and the pitcher on the mound must face the hitter.

There are phones, the catcher is in constant communication with the manager. Most already know what's happening next. Lefty is coming in to face the Lefty. Let's stop with the show. Call it in. Tell the catcher to call timeout. New pitcher comes in from Centerfield or wherever as the manager grabs the ball from the mound.

Next, as soon as the pitcher takes the ball, he starts warming up. If the manager says anything to him, it's considered a mound visit. Move it along. Warm up.

Third, 5 warm up pitches. They don't need 8. They've been warming up in the pen.

Lastly, if the first conversation didn't happen, only now can one occur between catcher and pitcher. And it's 30 seconds long, max AND considered a visit.

          Play ball.
I like it, YP...we're in the 21st century so let's stop with the hand signals.

I do like your tidbit about the mound visit and the MGR talking to him. That definitely would speed things up.

Last year MLB said they were going to dispense with the whole designated person in the clubhouse giving the ok to the manager before he formally asked for a replay. That didn't happened. So I'll believe it when I see it.

And who could forget the whole stepping out of the batters box rule implementation. The rule dropped the second the season started.

I actually like longer games, especially ones I go to. Just something about being able to sit there for a few hours and take it in is really relaxing.

When you're at a game live, it does seem like time flies quickly. But watching it on tv, feels like it lasts much longer, not so much in a good way.
