And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

For me it is the tradition of the leagues and the game. For decades we have had the leagues alternate and it works. It's just like having home field advantage tied to the all star game; it was a solution to no actual problem.

I know I'm in the minority but I still like the leagues seperate. I didn't even watch the all star game last year and I doubt I will until they alternate leagues and get rid of the stupid home field rule. I equally suspect that I'll probably never watch the all star game again...

It's more of a lament than anything. I really hate that an exhibition decides home field advantage in the World Series. They should go back to alternating.

                  PECOTA go home, you're drunk.

Man, the stats geek crowd are taking a hit with the PECOTA projections for the 2016 season. I can't believe they have the Royals finishing with 76 wins. That's one win less than the Milwaukee Brewers!

Never liked PECOTA. The projections always seem comical to me.

They are. 538 uses models without really understanding them sometimes. PECOTA takes comparable players and uses them to make projections, but they end up having guys fall off at 28 and then having a resurgence at 32, which you would never try to project. They probably just don't have enough guys to compare certain players to.

To me, the players reactions are more comical. Such a silly thing to get all worked up over.
