Suits who actually show up for any part of the game would be an improvement.

It's like the Yankees go out of there way to piss the fans off and show as much as possible that they only care about the game experience for the one percenters.

Damn, Tony Phillips passed away from a heart attack. That's Bob Welch, Hendu and now Phillips, all part of the '89 team, all passing within the last 2 years.

Damn, In some respects i'm not surprised. He always seemed so tightly wound and super intense but 56 is far too young. He was a talented ballplayer to be sure.

Brutal...hate losing these guys so early. I actually just watched MLB-N "1989 Baseball Season" this morning and Phillips fields the last out and tosses it to Eckersley.

On another note, I had completely missed that Bob Welch had passed...had no idea.

Nah...for YEARS people have been calling in to sports radio here screaming for real grass at Rogers Centre. While it's not exactly a renovation issue there's also the atmosphere at the stadium which was always a huge topic because it was "dead and lifeless".

Funny how everyone shut up about that once the Jays started killing everybody last year.

Saw something earlier that said Bryce Harper is this generation's Mickey Mantle, and just put up a Ted Williams season.

I really hope he continues to live up to the hype for the rest of his career. I love watching him play.

I take issue with that, this generation's Mickey Mantle is Mike Trout. Over the last 5 years Trout has put up numbers that are way beyond any of his peers. He slipped a little last season but it was still a class by itself type of season. I'm not gonna sit here and say Bryce Harper doesn't have that in him because he does BUT last season was the first year where he had a season for the ages while Trout has done that consistently. Harper still has some health issues though if last season is any indicator that will no longer be a factor.

In short, Trout = Mantle and Harper = Williams maybe.

                                Bryce struck out 131 times.

Ted never whiffed more than 64 times; in 1941 when he hit .407, he only struck out 27 TIMES!

                                Nobody is comparable to Ted.
