Young, 30, played for the Baltimore Orioles the past two seasons and is currently a free agent.
Yeah, and it is safe to say that he will stay that way for the time being.

And to think he was a #1 pick and considered a 5-tool player. They got the tool part right.

Lock him up and throw away the key already. Somebody this stupid shouldn't be allowed to breathe the same air as the general public. What a jabroni that guy is.

Darin Erstad was a #1 pick? Never would've guessed that.

The New York Yankees had an active Monday on Twitter. The Yankees sent a not-so-nice Valentine’s Day tweet to their archrival, and they also trolled the heck out of the Chicago Cubs for their World Series title drought. Their first tweet threw some shade at the Boston Red Sox. #BadValentineIn5Words: I'm a Red Sox fan. […]

Yeah, duh, the 'We Are Family Mets' won it all in '79. Don't you remember? It was the most surprising win since the Amazin' Pirates of '69, when they came from way behind and the Cubs...and the Cubs....:

I don't know where to put this so i'll put this here. Take this with a HUGE grain of salt considering that this is coming from a sports business guy and not a baseball guy but there's rumblings that the Jays may pursue the famed Cuban Gourriel brothers who just recently defected. There's already a Canadian connection what with a 3rd older brother living and playing for a Quebec team in an independent pro league right now. The thinking is that the Jays will go all out for Lourdes Gourriel Jr. who's only 22 and an infielder. I was watching a piece on MLBN and they were REALLY talking up Lourdes so if the Jays somehow can come up with the capital to get him (both brothers are expected to net more money than Yoan Moncada) that would be HUGE.

It's just speculation so we'll see what transpires. Lourdes can't be signed outside of the international bonus pool rules until he turns 23 and both brothers have to establish residency in another country for a few months anyways.

Thought this was a nice take on tanking and why the alternative is worse for the game and its fans.

Don’t like teams sitting out a season while rebuilding and accumulating prospects? Here’s how to stop it.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Random bit of news, but the Texas Rangers avoided arbitration this morning agreeing on $5.7 million for next season. The Rangers have not had an arbitration case since 2000 with Lee Stevens.
