A movie I haven't seen that makes lots of top ten lists but hasn't been mentioned here is Bang The Drum Slowly.

I have no idea what it's even about but it's on the list for a watch someday because of DeNiro.

I've only seen bits of it but IIRC it's about the friendship between a pitcher and catcher through the course of a season in which the catcher has a terminal illness. It never really grabbed me but I haven't tried watching it in years. Maybe i'll give it a shot someday soon.

Speaking of RdN, The Fan is underrated. For some reason, a lot of people don't understand it.

I remember seeing that when it first came out and LOVED it. Apparently the movie was initially supposed to be set in Boston. I never really understood the criticism about it either.

Meh...I've seen it a couple of times and I wasn't "a fan" if you will.

We are starting to get off the beaten path but A Player To Be Named Later is also a must see documentary IMO.

Horrible, can take the "folksy" and throw up inducing forced "humble" act only so far. A movie that should definitely stay back in the 40's (the only worthwhile thing is the Babe Ruth footage). Would like to see someone make a proper Lou Gehrig bio pic.

As for those thinking about watching Field of Dreams for the first time, you might wanna watch that one alone.

What didn't you like? I thought it was fairly well done. Not an all-timer or anything.

Meh...just felt like a 'B' movie to me. Made for TV type of deal. The acting wasn't great, the plot was meh, and it doesn't even strike me as a baseball movie.

Recently Moneyball was a very good movie. Trouble with the curve was okay.

Personally, Moneyball is one of the best movies I've ever seen. I'm personally bias a bit as they filmed some of the movie on campus at St. Mary's while I was there and I got to meet all the actors. It was a good movie regardless I say.

42 is also a great movie in my opinion.

I'm biased, for obvious reasons, towards Moneyball too. I spent 3 late nights at the Coliseum being a crowd extra. It was hella fun seeing the process and reliving the streak. We could tell what part of it they were going to try to film based on the scoreboard. There was a ton of stuff they filmed that didn't make the cut. They filmed some really STUPID stuff I made me worried about the direction the film was going.
