That's what I thought but it's still very light compared to a batting helmet. Plus, it's for protection, but they leave out 2/3 of the helmet (top and back)? I get that it's padded where pitchers are most likely to get struck, but what if their reaction had them duck and expose the top or back of their head? I would HATE to see that happen to a guy wearing one. Seems like it could slip off with enough force too. For some of the more violent follow throughs.

For having been tested for over a year, seems like it's leaving some holes. Unlikely scenarios, but a deficiency nonetheless.

That's it, but there is a skull cap they'll wear as well I guess to keep it from becoming just a padded visor.

It's at least a step in the right direction. This is going to be very much like the NHL and visors. Players are going to resist it to the hilt until it's grandfathered in.

Not the worst tech, but eh. If they wear it, good for them. Just don't require it.

That looks a lot better than the Gizmo cap that they first came out with. They will probably need to close the back to keep it from falling off after mutiple uses but it is a good start.

Cubs looking like they could host the 2019 or 2020 all star game. Sure, they need to host one,but mlb is really messing things up having nl city after nl city after nl city after nl city hosting this.

I'll never understand why this matters so much to some.

It's about the venue and location. Not what league the home team plays in.

Would like to see Philadelphia host another All-Star Game. Last time they did was in 1996.

I agree. Even though my favorite team is Texas, I could care less where it's played.

I'm gonna end up with a full head of grey/white hair before Toronto hosts another ASG huh?

The AL/NL thing doesn't matter that much to me especially if (as it looks like) the NL is going to adopt the DH rule in a year or two.

Was there ever a real reason to alternate other than tradition? More and more of those will be left on the wayside as the sport evolves. Some I'm ok with going away, some I'm not. I liked the back and forth but it's not the end of the world.

What bearing does that have? They use a DH in the all star game regardless of where it's located.

This is what I get for not fully paying attention to the ASG these days but up until '08 the rules alternated between DH/no DH depending on where it was played.

That's fantastic. My first job was at a golf course, so shenanigans like this hold a special place in my heart.

                              Nicely done.
