All Star voting has been a joke for years now. The commish needs to take a step back and overhaul the process.

Yes it's absolutely horse ****! The voting should have been changed a long time ago, do the draft like NFL does... IDC just change it!

What are all the guys the fans got right proof of then? I don't think the fans did a bad job overall. The system will have flaws and snubs no matter how it's conceived. If Cardinals, Giants, and Dodgers fans are a little salty about it, even better!

Nobody is salty. If the All-Star game didn't matter, it wouldn't be as big of a deal, but unfortunately it does. And to have a starting SS in the game simply because he is a Cub is ridiculous.

The guy is hitting .242 on the year, that is the lowest out of him, Seager, Diaz, and Crawford, and I'm not even counting Story, who I don't believe deserves it either.

As a fan of baseball and who wants the All-Star game to be a representation of those who are truly All-Stars, this really bothers me. You're rewarding a guy for mediocrity, while leaving a deserving player sitting at home.

^ Not to mention if record is an indication of anything, the Giants have more wins than the Cubs (albeit a lower winning percentage).

And trust me, I'm not sitting here petitioning Crawford to get the vote either. For me it's Seager, Diaz, Story, Crawford, then Russell in that order.

NL rotation is almost comically stacked, even accounting for that Kershaw guy being unavailable to pitch. Two of Greinke, DeGrom, and Scherzer are going to be watching the All Star game from home.

Allow me to reiterate...the fact that you've picked out 1 player you think doesn't belong (out of ~20) doesn't mean the fans are bad at it. The coaches/players/GMs could easily get 1 player wrong out of nearly 20 starters. I don't think they did a poor job this season. What's your alternative?

You guys are also treating Addison Russell like he's some joke player, but he's on pace for 20 HR and 90 RBI with ~4 WAR. Sure Seager should be starting, but the whole Aledmys Diaz over Russell is not a slam dunk at all. Russell gets more value on defense while Diaz gets more value hitting some more singles than Russell does. I don't think Story is ahead of Russell either. Brandon Crawford is about the same as Russell (less homers, better average) if you're only looking at offensive numbers so I can understand that.

I'd have Seager, Crawford, and Russell on my All-Star team. Not really seeing the outrage that Addison Russell made the team although starting is a nod to his team's early success. But if I were a Cardinal fan...hmmm....

The fact that Cardinals/Giants/Dodgers fans are the ones pointing this out and cosigning each other's posts tells me it is most definitely too much salt in the diet. Or at least that team bias is a factor.

Zero-time all-star Doug Glanville has my permission to do any sideline reporting and analysis from the Baseball Tonight studio that he wants.

However, and I'm not going to say that I'm in love with my voice myself, but I can only take so much of his dialogue in the commentator's booth. Just glad that he's only adding the color in a three-man booth and not doing the play-by-play.

That is the only fact that I see here. I have already mentioned that I am careless whether Crawford gets it or not, because personally I don't think he deserves it. I'm actually a much more fair-weather fan than you take me for. I have seeing FB posts that are from blind Giants homers, for that matter. I sometimes seem to be the only one who sees the other side because I watch the entire MLB as often as I can (helps to have a fantasy team).

I'm just seeing a KC 2.0 here is all. Russell is a question mark for me because I don't even understand the "he's on a dominant team" argument when the Giants have more wins, that's all I was saying. That's not a knock on Russell at all, that's a knock on the nation only paying attention to the Cubs in this case.

For the record, for the final NL All-Star vote, I'd prefer it goes to Jake Lamb over Brandon Belt.

Well for 95% of the balloting period, he was on the team with the best record (and by quite a margin at that), so I can definitely see the dominant team angle. The Cubs have been playing like crap for 3 solid weeks and the other really good teams (Giants, Rangers) are just now catching up with them.

Well, I'm a Braves fan and I'll say the only Addison Russell should be at the all star game is with a ticket...no way he belongs in over the guys mentioned.

All that said, the system is the system and it's been that way for a long time now. I can't blame Russell or Cubs fans for the fact he ended up in the game...blame the other team's fans for not voting enough.
