    Re: MLB Off-Topic

I actually have Doc Gooden's first ever start in my collection. I could've sworn that game is on youtube...I'll take a quick look.

    Yep here it is:

That channel has a TON of classic games.

This is honestly incredible I didn't expect there to be this much response. It's really awesome how many games there seem to be online, you guys have basically eliminated any time I would've spent bored for the next year lol, I went to sub to the MLB Classics channel in particular and the embedded video was Game 7 of the 1952 World Series. Unreal. There's going to be so much 80's baseball in my house this summer, thanks so much.

You'll be amazed at how much the game has changed in terms of pitcher usage and fielding position.

While not the '80s, i'm getting close to watching the Indians ALCS and World Series run in '95 among the piles of DVDs I have.

              Per RotoWorld:

Yordano Ventura has been suspended nine games for his role in Tuesday night's benches-clearing brawl with the Orioles. Ventura instigated a fight by beaning Manny Machado with a 99 mph fastball. Machado was slapped with a four-game ban for charging the mound. Both players are appealing their suspensions. Ventura has developed a reputation for throwing at hitters and manager Ned Yost hinted that the team is tired of his antics. The right-hander's "me against the world" mentality would be a lot easier to forgive if Ventura was pitching well. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case as Ventura has struggled to a disappointing 5.32 ERA over 12 starts.

So Ventura, who basically throws hard enough that it could kill you if it hits you in the wrong spot, gets the equivalent of 2 games since MLB doesn't differentiate pitchers and fielders. Machado essentially gets twice that.

              Stupid.

If you look at percentage of games played, though, Ventura gets a slightly more significant penalty (2/35sh starts vs 4/150ish starts for Machado)

Fair point, but you're still handing out equal punishments even though one guy instigated the brawl and has a history of using his 99 MPH fastball as a weapon against other players.

Basically a slap on the wrist, and when Ventura does this again, we're right back at square one.

Oh I agree with that part, I'm just speaking purely towards the significance of games missed. I don't think hitters should ever be penalized when there is obvious intent by the pitcher.

Oooo...that will be a good one. I need to lookup the 1996 WS.

I'm still bitter about the Smoltz vs. Pettitte matchup. We lost 1-0 and had the tying run with 1-out at 3rd in the 9th...could've made it 3-2 with Atlanta able to clinch versus the other way around.

The Yankees are the only team since 2010 which haven't had a 1st round pick reach the majors:

To be fair, the guy most likely to reach the majors this year suffered an injury.

James Kaprielian was all set to make it at least 1.

Also there are other names like Aaron Judge that should quickly change that list by next season.
