He may be deflecting as to the inciting incident, but I read that more as an explanation as opposed to an excuse. The words above for me make me feel like he is solely responsible, and by his own accord. I know what you're saying though.

EDIT: I misread a part of the article, though. I thought he said something along the lines of "I realized that the supplement I was taking had to be the source of the positive test, even though I was aware that it was not on a list of approved substances." I still can sort of read it that way, but considering he can't isolate which one it is and since he's calling it "tainted," that's not quite as comforting of a public release statement.

1st offense should be a full season and 2nd offense a ban.

I'm still a proponent of a reduced salary of some kind...these players get juiced up and get a fat contract then after they come back after their suspension, don't really see the consequence.

Yeah, that's right...I'm singling you out, Dee Gordon.

After more thought, I don't particularly mind that juicers land big contracts because it's the team's money and not mine. If the team passes the cost of that off onto fans, then it's not so nice.

The bigger issue to me is playing time theft. Who could've broken through if not for PLAYER X roided up to the hilt and taking that job away?

Also if anyone has the Dee Gordon dunking over Christian Yelich on a makeshift Nerf hoop during a post-game interview and injuring Yelich's back .gif, now is the time.

Just ran across this article (more of an interview) about Bonds.

Some will never forgive him, and furthermore many will say, "He's just lying." This also doesn't help because of the recent Joc Pederson incident. Ah well, I thought it was a good article either way.

Ehh...I just read a guy that is mean and has embraced it. I'm certain he is very cerebral and has a wealth of understanding and knowledge that his personality prevents from getting to the public.

I will always correlate Bonds with Andy Van Slyke in the 1992 NLCS G7...Van Slyke tried to tell Bonds to move up a few steps in LF as the PH didn't have much pop, Bonds gave him the finger, and then Barry proceeded to be late on the throw because he was too deep. It's most memorable for me because Van Slyke memorably just sat in CF - knowing if Bonds listened, they probably wouldn't have lost on that play.

He's just trying to get into the Hall of Fame...nothing more.

He has been a jerk his entire career from college thru the big leagues.

Good, get him into the Hall of Fame!

I was coming more from the perspective of the author, though. Hey, I met the guy and he was fine alongside me as well. Everything seems to be about experiences.

                      So true.

James Shields + ~$30M to White Sox for P Erik Johnson and teenage SS Fernando Tatis Jr.

Not a bad deal for either side.

Time to start a trade deadline thread?

I was reading an article by Steve Phillips (he does some work for TSN here in Canada) in which he said that trade market is the most well defined in years and that there may be a lot of trades this season.
