Whats the best 8th / 9th inning combination you remember?

Greg Holland and Wade Davis are on pace for 133.2 IP,a 1.28 ERA, 202 K's and a 0.96 whip. If you add in Kelvin Herrera in the 7th that becomes 201.2 IP, 260 K's. 1.39 ERA, 1.04 whip.

MLB.TV premium is 24.99 until Sunday. 1/2 off the current price.

These are 3 that came to my mind.

        1990 Reds
        Randy Myers - 2.08 ERA 1.12 WHIP 98 K
        Rob Dibble - 1.74 ERA 0.98 WHIP 136 K

        1996 Yankees
        John Wetteland - 2.83 ERA 1.17 WHIP 69 K
        Mariano Rivera - 2.09 ERA 0.99 WHIP 130 K

        2003 Dodgers
        Eric Gagne - 1.20 ERA 0.69 WHIP 137 K
        Guillermo Mota - 1.97 ERA 0.99 WHIP 99 K

I'll always have a soft spot for Ward and Henke:

          1992

          Duane Ward: 1.95 ERA, 1.135 WHIP, 103 K
Tom Henke: 2.26 ERA, 1.114 WHIP, 46 K (Yeah he wasn't the biggest flame thrower but VERY effective. Actually, when he was younger he did have 3 seasons of over 100 K)

2011 O'Ventrel was pretty good, too.

            Kimbrel - 2.10 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 14.8 K/9
            Venters - 1.84 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 9.8 K/9
            O'Flaherty - 0.98 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 8.2 K/9

Venters fell off, but Kimbrel and O'Flaherty were pretty solid in 2012 as well.

            Kimbrel - 1.01 ERA, 0.65 WHIP, 16.7 K/9
            O'Flaherty - 1.73 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 7.2 K/9

Edit: I had already forgotten how utterly dominant Kimbrel was two years ago. Those numbers are ridiculous.

Whoops. Tigers gave 10,000 of these out last night, part of a Miguel Cabrera bobblehead.

I'll nominate Betances and Robertson, they have been an incredible duo this year.

Boy, James Shields and Wade Davis (the guys TB traded for Wil Myers) have become major contributors to a team in a playoff race. Trade seems to be working out pretty nicely for KC.

Let's see if Myers can get back to health so we can see him contribute too.

Snubbed on Facebook by a childhood friend turned Pirates pitcher, a small-time handicapper concocted a game-fixing tale that grabbed the attention of MLB investigators. And then things got scandalously weird.

Wow…what a bizarre story. The cynic in me has a hard time believing that this is the truth, but I sure hope it is.

Pat Neshek deserves every good thing that happens to him after what he's been through the last couple years.

                          Good on Lackey.
