re: MLB Off-Topic
Who would you say is the face of baseball, if we are going by titles? David Ortiz? Buster Posey? Is it that hard to say two titles in 15 years?Comment

re: MLB Off-Topic
It's not just the scarcity of recent titles and no MVP Award. This mythical title (FOB*) seems to be New York media driven, fueled by Jeter's retirement and the lack of a parade in the Big Apple.
Of course if Bud Selig says he's the "face" who am I to argue?Comment

re: MLB Off-Topic
Ok, but who do YOU think is the face of baseball? People ask but you still haven't provided a name. Since you're only going by championships, it would have to be Ortiz.
Seriously, I don't see how Jeter isn't the face of baseball.Boston Red Sox

I don't think there is a face of baseball, and I said as much in a reply to NY Jets.Comment

Wow. This is crazy. The odds of this happening are apparently one. Good story.

On to another topic now...
Too bad Pirates-Nats matchup(if it happens) will be the NLDS. I wanted that to be NLCS so either one would be guaranteed a WS appearance.
My predictions for playoffs:
A's,Pirates win WC games
LDS:
A's over Angels
O's over Tigers
Dodgers over Cards
Nats over Pirates
LCS:
A's over O's
Nats over Dodgers
WS:
Nats over A'sLast edited by Majingir; 09-28-2014, 10:39 PM.Comment

MLB Off-Topic 2014
I guess what makes him considered the face of baseball IS the fact that he's a household name.
Everybody "outside" of baseball knows Derek Jeter and has heard nothing but great things about him and his career.
I'm a jeet fan, obviously, but he truly was a purist in the sport. Played hard everyday, loved the game, and above all stayed humble and quiet.Last edited by Chef Matt; 09-28-2014, 10:42 PM.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Of all the professions, after all, few people are less suited to be suddenly thrown into the public eye than chefs. We're used to doing what we do in private, behind closed doors.Comment
