And who asks for a release from a playoff-bound team? I guess Papelbon couldn't handle being Drew Storen'd this year.
I would add Carlos Gomez to that list as well.

I heard he was going to be DFA'd so he asked to be released.

Speaking of Gomez...didn't he turn down a $100M/multi year deal after 2013? Wish he has that back now...

He and Ian Desmond should get a beer together sometime...

It's worked out for Desmond a little bit this year...signing a 1 year deal with the Rangers and he's been in discussion as an MVP candidate. He'll get paid this offseason. Gomez will have trouble finding work.

              1. Nobody serious thinks Ian Desmond is an MVP candidate in a league that has Mike Trout in it.

              2. Desmond is not recouping that 7 year $107M offer he turned down. He'll get some of it back, but probably only half. He will benefit from a weak free agent class. At 31 years old by the offseason, I'd venture 3-4 years at $10-15M per.

He won't win the MVP (and shouldn't), but he's been on a few top 10 lists this year. As for Trout winning the MVP...I love me some Mike Trout, but I think he's going to get some serious competition from Altuve.

gotta remember the voters. Trout won't win because of teammates.

To add to the Harper drama...did anyone see the report that stated he's been dealing with a pretty severe right shoulder injury for the last 3 months? Mike Rizzo is disputing it and saying it's just a stiff neck, but that would certainly explain why all the sudden he started struggling, especially as a LHB with a right shoulder injury.

Well, Trout didn't win in 2012 because he was a rookie and Miggy won the Triple Crown. Miggy basically repeated that performance in 2013 with a season that was even better (193 wRC+ for Miggy vs 176 wRC+ for Trout), albeit no Triple Crown. Then Trout won his in 2014 unanimously.

But Donaldson legit won it last year with a season that was hard to argue against. Altuve will give Trout a stiff challenge this year also.

I get the disdain for writers/voters, but losing out on the MVP a couple of times to a future 1st ballot HoF'er at his peak and to a guy who had basically the same stats +30 RBIs last year is not really that bad.

I know there have been dramatic events and change of momentum in baseball games but it's amazing to watch this and literally hear the wind get sucked out of the stadium.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Donaldson had a great year but Trout's was superior. Trout had .299/.402/.590 and 172 wRC+ 9.0 fWAR compared to Donaldson .297/.371/.568 154 wRC+ and 8.7 fWAR. Alot of his case was "he's carrying his team to the playoffs yada yada." That's mainly my issue.

I'm not going to go through the Miggy/Trout stuff because everyone has been through that lol.

I wish MLB would add more games like NBA and even NFL is starting to do on there. I would watch all of the Bonds, Arod, etc. games on there.
