Yes…this almost read like a cover up to me. Like I said, the cynic in me thinks that.

      Makes zero sense.

The money he could make fixing games as a call up is nothing compared to what he could have made had he pitched his way into a minimum ML contract.

The incentive to fix a game in his scenario is zero compared to pitching well and earning a spot on a major league roster.

Didn't read that whole article because I've heard enough about it here in the last few weeks but I still can't answer why any pitcher who is even somewhat talented would risk a potential very lucrative career for a small town gambler.

Oh, I get that…it's just that the explanation of how this guy was offended by Locke blowing him off and then decided to bet against him every game out seemed stupid. I'm not saying I thought Locke did it…it's just the explanation in the article seemed flimsy.

Explain professional soccer at just about every level. The big stars get paid MORE than MLB stars get and there's rampant match fixing. Hell, arguably the biggest event in the world is suspect when it comes to this. So while it might seem strange and not worth it to us, who knows....This could be legit.

A pitcher has far more direct impact on the outcome of a game than a soccer player

Like how would you get only one soccer player to fix a match? You'd have to get the whole team in on it and then that's a different situation entirely

There's no use conspiracy theorizing about it, it isn't true

                MLB Off-Topic 2014

I though soccer matches were fixed by the officials a lot more than any one player?

Nor is that a counter to the point that a AAA pitcher who as we've seen can be decent having everything to lose and very little to gain.

You guys may be right and if i'm thinking rationally I'd agree but I do leave some wiggle room for any eventuality.

Some fixers hire the defenders and goalies instead of refs so they can have them mess up and let in a goal when the score is wrong.

In other news, I got less interested in the NBA because of the referees and how the east gets worse over time and decided to start following baseball again.
I have a couple questions though since I haven't followed this season much at all.
                      1. Thinking of getting a Clayton Kershaw jersey but is the rivalry between the Yankees and Dodgers still big even though they never play each other?
                      2. Anything major change in the MLB since last year?

The Yankees and Dodgers probably couldn't care any less about each other unless they play an interleague series or in the World Series. There is no rivalry there anymore.

I read the brewers and giants were too. Giants to Sac and brewers to fresno. Could be the following season though. Nit sure yet how that's going to play out.

I know the local population would rather have the giants.

The A's will go from Sacramento to Nashville. SF will go from Fresno to Sacramento. It's unclear were Milwaukee and Houston will land with new AAA affiliates.

SF AAA is the Fresno Grizzlies. About a 2 1/2 hr drive west from San Jose.

Hopefully we get someone but without the giants here ticket sales might plummet.
