I disagree...when he was 22 he came 3 HR's away from a 30 HR/30 2B/20 SB season. It's not unreasonable that if he was to actually reach his potential and have a career year for him to put up 40/40/20 type numbers.

      Re: MLB Off-Topic

I understand the guy is entering some peak physical years, but I'll take the under.

Even discounting last year as an aberration, it seems unlikely.

The two injury years might have taken a toll, but he's had three seasons of 545 or more ABs since the 2013...and trend toward 30HRs a year hasn't returned.

I think "great success" would be considered 20 HR, .350 OBP

One stat that jumps out is that his doubles numbers are right in line with his career average, even with 40 less hits than usual. Could it be a case of bad luck mixed with "mechanics"? Absolutely. A .266 BAbip suggests the former; perhaps a swing fix will turn some ground-outs into line-drive singles. But I don't think it's that simple.

      Next year: 12 HR, .340 OBP, 30+ 2B, GG Defense...I'm thrilled.

If he can't improve on last year, I hope he's just a very expensive defensive replacement and fill-in.

In my opinion it looks like his swing is a bit slow...bat speed is the first thing to go, and even though he seems too young for that, it's not impossible. His build may not help in that regard.

The two things Bonds will work most with are his hands and his approach against left-handed pitchers. Expect a far different load from last year, and expect him to go more to the opposite field by keeping his front-shoulder squared to the pitcher longer.

I expect a big difference, especially when you hit May or June and he is able to recognize his own adjustments. Bonds is going to make him aware where his weaknesses are so he can self-correct.

(I've obviously heard a lot on Bonds' approach both as a hitter and hitting coach in my time)

One thing I cannot account for though is Heyward's strength, or lack thereof. He used to be a much "bigger" guy when he first came up.

We don't need Heyward to be an MVP candidate--just need for him not to royally suck. I personally don't see him in the same area code as having a 40 HR season (he'll need to add about 300 feet onto his infield pop outs), but I'm not going to turn it down either.

Hey, this isn't about what the Cubs need...this is about what I want for Jason Heyward. Get with the program!

                  Bad Idea.

If three Republican legislators in Washington state have their way, licensed fans would be able to bring guns into Safeco Field.

Love the new Nats alternate jersey, the hat looks a little busy, maybe if it was a white background.

As for that GOP led efforts for guns in sports stadiums....Um, have they not seen or heard of situations where fans in the stands have gotten into a fight? Hopefully the lawmakers in Washington state give their heads a shake.

Man I just read it and it's not even like the stadium is public, they're trying to force a privately owned building into letting people in. That's insane.
