Of all those records, the "most breakable" is probably the consecutive 200 hits one.

Someone is devoping technology to put headsets in catcher helmets.

Teddy Cahill of Baseball America tells us about a new innovation in the never-ending struggle to speed up games: catcher headsets.

That'd be good to have. Sure baseball has had signs for ages, but they gotta get with the times. Would be nice if this could reduce amount of mound visits too. And similarly with hockey, maybe they might adopt goalie mask headsets too so coaches can talk to goalie if needed about faceoff positionings or defensive formations to tell the team about.

There's no problem with this tech at all, only now some signs can't be picked from the bench I guess (pickoffs, pitchouts, etc.).

I do hope it gets shut off when in play much like it does in football once the huddle breaks, though. Don't want any extra advantage they may have in that instance.

The only thing I worry about is if this does bring about more mound visits though, Majingir. Catcher visits are unlimited. What if the pitching coach says: "Go tell your pitcher his slot is too low and he's not getting inside enough on lefties, and with Martinez coming up we're going to establish that corner blah blah blah..."? That won't go against their defensive conference for the inning. This is why, as I said, it should only be before pitches.

Agreed, there is nothing about this tech that would reduce mound visits at all.

Doesn't the NFL enforce that the mics are turned off during certain parts of the game?

MLB could do the same. Turn them off when a catcher goes to the mound.

With all the talk Manfred has about wanting to reduce game lengths, I'm thinking/hoping one day they implement a limited number of timeouts a team can have. Catcher visits to the mound or coach visits to the mound(not including pitching changes or potential injuries) count as a timeout. Given how each visit takes a minute or so at a time, and we see multiple a game, there's a few minutes right there MLB could save.

He could tell him to go to the mound and relay information prior to going there. But yes, that's what I'm suggesting they do: only enable it between pitches during an at-bat.

With the Raiders now basically all but gone from Oakland(pending a vote from the leagues owners) since they weren't able to get a new stadium, how long before we really start seeing pressure on the A's(if there isn't already pressure) to get a new stadium or else they'll be moved?

Manfred has already said multiple times in the past that the A's/Rays stadium situations are 2 big things he wanted to get done, specifically once the new CBA was agreed upon. And now with the new CBA, and part of it being that the A's are out of the revenue sharing, could it just be a matter of time before the A's are gone too?

Getting ready for pitchers and catchers in less than 30 days, picked up my Lindy's and Sporting News fantasy mags. And I dont even play fantasy, I just like seeing what they have to say about the upcoming season. First 2 mags that I have seen, so far. I also picked up Baseball America's 2017 Almanac. Good times ahead.

The A's aren't going anywhere. In the last 40 years, one MLB team has moved.

Comparatively, in the past 40 years there have been 9 NBA teams, 8 NFL teams, and 10 NHL teams that have relocated.

The MLB gets done what needs to be done to keep people from relocating.

I like that about MLB's track record but if there were one team to move I'd have to put the A's as a top 5 candidate.
                                Montreal Athletics anyone? lol

I'd almost say the last one out of Oakland cut out the lights but even if the A's go nowhere, they probably cant afford to keep the lights on anyways. Since the yellow balls didnt work out, maybe the A's can play some real night baseball and try glow-in-the-dark baseballs and play with the lights off at the O.Co.
